Will Sens sell out their playoff games?

Forums skew older. They are a relics of the past. If you did the same poll on Reddit, Twitter, whatever, I think they would skew younger or be all over the board.

I participated in multiple forums related to my hobbies, and Reddit/Twitter killed them all over the last 10-15 years. It's amazing that HFBoards is still active.
Ya that could be why Reddit especially is crap.

It's not really a choice thing per se. You either commit to buying tickets all the way through or you get nothing.

On the package I'm in on, we've already committed and if it ends up being the Leafs, we'll probably sell a game.

If it's confirmed that it's the Leafs, and they sell packages for anywhere near what they offered for renewal, they are all going to sell out.

A SSM could buy an extra pair of 300 level seats to ALL ROUNDS for 4K, and get back 2k-3k of that just by selling the first round.

I am not going to sell my first round tickets, but I don't blame anybody who sells part of their package when a single pair of tickets will probably pay for the entire round of 3 games.

Someone did a poll last year asking this question, what decade did you start watching hockey. #1 answer was the 90’s, it was a bell curve.
I have sensed in the past that HF Sens fans are a younger demographic, but when you use a word like that, everything is relative I guess.

Eight home games left. If they average 17685 the rest of the way they'll be at the same level as last season. Usually the games at the end of the year sell better. They'll likely be above the average for the remaining home games with at least a couple of sellouts.
Yes, that sounds reasonable. They were just barely below last year’s attendance average like maybe less than 50 people/game.

Well it was in response to a poster who said they can pre purchase the first 2 rounds.
I said they get the choice to buy 4 rounds ( or none). Maybe wasn’t too clear.

I don't think Reddit/Twitter killed them, they likely would've died off on their own, but Reddit/Twitter/Discord/etc has killed off new forums starting. Why pay for server space and maintain software when you can just start a new reddit or Discord channel in seconds?

Found the poll, looks to be about ( poster didn’t create poll,,even though in the polls)

2000’s to present ~30%
1990’s ~ 40%
1980’s or earlier ~30%

OK. I’m not saying anything for or against, but do note you’d have a “Toronto” perspective.
As a local fan you need to make sure everyone you know is taking part in the playoff run. You are an advocate of the local scene. Promote positivity and make sure you teach ever kid that being a Habs or Leafs fan is an embarrassment and totally loser mentality. Every person not supporting the team financially after the owner has been spending to the cap should be brought to the Kanata town square and sprayed with cold toilet water

What an ignorant thing to say. By how you humble brag on here all the time, you seem to be quite secure financially.

Things have not been good economically here for a few years, so I find it difficult to just tell people to pony up.

I have a ticket package and 2 tickets, if we played 3 home games each series en route to the Cup, would cost me over $7k. That's insane, and that's just to get in! No parking or concessions.

So while I want a sold out barn, the cost is absolutely something that has to be considered.
Then buy single game tickets dude. I never said or implied people are to buy the whole packages. I know they are expensive. I think you’re ignorant for implying that the people have to buy these packages. Single game tickets will get you in the building, that’s all I was hoping for.

I’m a Senator fan, but not “local”. I’d love to go to a Senators play off game, but getting there and back for me takes a day just for the travel.

What's SSM? The usual acronym for a season ticket holder is STH.

Yes if the first round is the Leafs....tickets will be worth a fortune

Season Seat Member. That is what the Sens marketing seems to use, not that it matters - we're both talking about the same thing.

A pair of first round 300 level tickets is about $500 right now on Stubhub, without Sens/Leafs even being confirmed. It wouldn't shock me if they shot up if/when it is confirmed. It's not just the Leafs, it's the Sens not having playoffs in 10 years, so there is demand both ways.

I am not going to shame anyone for selling their tickets. Some people just won't be in a position where they can look at 6 tickets that they can possibly sell for 2000+ profit and keep them. I use profit loosely, because anybody doing that who originally intended to go to the games is likely pouring that 2k right back into funding their SSM package. If you have something that has inflated in value and you choose to keep it instead of selling it, that is the same (by proxy) as you choosing to buy it for that value. A lot of people holding these tickets wouldn't be able to responsibly pay $2500 for first round 300 level tickets so they are going to sell them.

With that said, I don't think the arena will be as taken over as it is for regular season games. I think a big chunk of the fanbase is clamouring for playoffs, and while some SSMs are probably ticket brokers, a lot of them are fans. I think the fanbase has learned not to take playoffs for granted and they probably want to go. Where as regular season Leafs games get taken over because there is a substitute product Sens fans can go to for much less money (games against any other opponent), so they sell or don't buy Leafs tickets, and go see Ottawa VS Columbus for 1/5th of the price. I don't think the same substitute product exists for playoffs so there will be more Sens fans. I would guess it will be like 60/40 Sens fans or 75/25. Something like that.

They gave SSMs an extremely reasonable price for playoffs for those that renewed. I think that the first round was something like $50-$60 a first round game for the lowest price brackets. The entire playoff package of 16 possible games is about 4K for a pair of tickets. It is charged round by round and f they play less games, the difference gets refunded.

To put that in perspective, if we have the Leafs in the first round, 300s tickets a minimum will sell for $200 on the secondary market since that's what regular season games sell for, and probably closer to $300+.

They make it sound like they don't expect there to be many tickets available since SSMs have first dibs. The big thing is that for better or worse, if they wait until it's confirmed that we play the Leafs to give all the SSMs extras, they will almost certainly sell out.
I considered buying those full playoff packs but need 3 tickets. Also not sure how long the credit for unused tickets would go. Would I have had to spend it all next year, or would it just be a credit to my account for the future.

I see a lot of 300 tickets in the $240-$300 range

You can get a refund or apply to next year

You would have to ask your rep. I don't know exactly how it works. I am fairly certain unused credit gets rolled into each round we advance into, and then you get refunded at the end of the playoffs. Your rep could probably confirm this.

I am in a similar boat that I want 4 tickets because I go to games with anywhere from myself or groups of 4 people, but they seem to have limited it to 2 per pair. I think people with certain packages may have been able to buy extras, but I am not sure. Based on what Leeder said recently, my interpretation is that they will give SSMs first dibs on extra tickets.

No excuses to not sell out every single playoff game IMO.

They have an overly large arena and are in the process of rebuilding the SSM base after the brand of the team was too closely affiliated with Eugene Melnyk's toxic brand.

To me, it's a toss up over whether they will sell out every single game. They didn't in 2017, but historically they have sold out playoff games. In 2017, I would wonder what our SSM numbers look like.

I'm hoping based on what they have said in the media that they will sellout, but I'm not going to get insecure or booboofaced about the Sens if they don't. It's part of the process. The market needs work after how it has been handled since 2012, and it isn't a slight on the core of the fanbase if they don't sellout.

8 years of no playoffs should be enough incentive to sell out the playoffs IMO.

Season ticket base is far from where Leeder likes it to be which is 13k. I would guy it's 8-9k for STH this year.

Generally Ottawa is a massive walk up market and having one of the cheapest if not cheapest tickets in Canada you don't have to sell an arm and a leg to see live playoff hockey.

I never said anyone had to buy them all, I only gave my situation as an example.

If tickets are going to be $200+ then I think people have a choice. I'm not sure if it's generally the 300s that aren't full, but I would expect they still aren't an easy sell.
