Will Sens sell out their playoff games?

I think playoff sales will be good. We haven't had playoffs in a long time, and the City is getting on board with the Sens. I have said this before in other threads, but I have friends and family who haven't watched Sens games in years, tuning into every single game for the last few months. Even for myself, I barely watched games over the past 3-4 years, and now I've been watching almost every single one since January and went to my first game since 16/17 in February.

I'm aware. I have noticed similar stuff so I think the Senators have potential to sell out.

The only reservation I have is the full blown attack on the global economy that's going on right now, lot's of uncertainty which makes people a bit hesitant to drop hundreds of dollars to take the fam to a game.

The interest is there, people want to go, the question is whether or not the means will be there.

Don't gaslight me with this nonsense. Everyone knew by the spring of 2017 that Melnyk was a nutter. They might not have known all the details but everyone knew.

His comment about Crosby was public. As was the forensic audit of Karlsson's cut Achilles. He had fired Leeder for no apparent reason. Everyone was fleeing the organization. He'd had the whole SEC investigation that deemed him a crook.
And how did Melnyk being a nutter affect you back in the spring of 2017? He didn’t . We didn’t know the extent so go gaslight yourself . Revisionist history is strong in here. I was vocal back then , and that won’t change about it back then . Today is a new day. New clientele. New, passionate fans who don’t think twice buying tickets . They are mid 20s and they are spending disposable income to watch their time as I predicted they would.

The old fans have to age out and there is a whole generation of fans who do. Or know of a time where there wasn’t a hockey team here

So we're moving the goalposts from "Melnyk was normal in 2017" to "how did him being a nutter affect you"?

Yes, the revisionist history is strong in here. And you're participating in it.

Not at all. I didn’t know back then and neither did you. He was in no way part of the sad fan base who left 2k plus tickets empty in Round 2 . It was the same 30,000 fans trying to afford the tickets

Ya, economic/market doesn’t look good now. Tariffs and trade wars are a real headwind. The popular word these days is (or should be) stagflation. Haven’t heard an economist yet to say tariffs are good for the economy.

Barring a complete collapse, it’s looking promising that the Sens will see some post-season action! IIRC, last time the Sens were in the playoffs, there was at least one home game (vs the Rangers?)where they didn’t sell out. What are the chances that this happens again? IMO it’s disgraceful for a Canadian team not selling out a playoff game!
The costs of seats is very high during the playoffs so I can understand why some people might not pay those high prices when the game is on TV. But I wish the arena would sell out for all playoff games.

I have no idea of the demographic of the posters here, but you don't have to be paycheque-to-paycheque in order to consider how you spend your money.

Lots of people these days make good money and have to be smart. Maybe spending $X on a night of hockey doesn't add up.
I agree. After a person pays for the rent or mortgage, vehicle, food, clothing, electricity, water, education taxes, property taxes, health care, RRSP savings, TFSA savings, kids activities, etc. there may not be much disposable income left to pay for NHL season and playoff tickets.

Household disposable income also depends on whether both spouses work, their salary levels, and family issues.

Whats SOD?

You pre-pay the team for money you will spend during the year, and in exchange receive SSM benefits.

So I laid 2386$ for a seat in 318, mid level. People have to keep in mind this tabulates 16 games even though if they win it may be 13 home games, and if they win a round could be 6 , as I don’t think Ottawa can get home ice. I would try and secure what you can and it will be nowhere near that amount. I think my expectations are low, but I guess you never know.

If you really want them, my advice is to sign up for next year. They will be back and even better next year

The only way they could get home ice, going by current standings if they end up playing WC2 at some point.

Cyril Leeder said at intermission they have sold upwards of 10k tickets to SSMs. I believe that these are all complete playoff packages.

It doesn't sound like it will be as difficult to get single game tickets for later rounds as people are fearing, but that ultimately depends on how many of those 8k remaining tickets are 300 level, 200 level, or 100 level. 300s could be sold out for example, which would price out a lot of fans.

I think that the Leafs round will be impossible to get into, and if we make the cup final against a big name team or we face the Canadiens in a later round, it might be difficult. Selling 10k full packages is a great start, but I don't think Florida or Tampa in round 2 are going to be impossible games to get into.

My original gut reaction was that the no resale stipulation would stop people from buying extras, because the risk is so high, but it looks like they have sold a lot of what was available on the map.

This is true, but unless you have the kind of disposable income where you can light $2500 on fire, anybody grabbing these extra tickets has to take the worst case scenario into consideration. Especially with no resale (which might be an empty threat) making it difficult to recoup your cash in a scenario where you can't go, lose your job, etc.

Assuming you're talking about the extra playoff tickets that they just released now, can you tell me what price it says on the invoice for the first round? I'm curious to see how much the actual first round is.

He also said there would likely be one more short window for STH, before general public.
(I assume they get they get if the team clinches a spot).
If they fail to clinch until the end, then there won’t be time for another round.

General public won’t go on sale until there is an ‘X’ beside the team.

He also mentioned, something about there might be a way to stop re-sales, but was being coy with Claire there, as she asked again.

If they are going to go all in on threatening SSMs, they should provide people with a way to sell to "verified" Sens fans at face value. Or to trade back to the team for credit within reason.

I assume there are no restrictions on the original pair they gave out to SSMs, because nothing was mentioned. If there is, that's going to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Not because I want to resell them at a profit, but because as a consumer it infringes on my ability to sell them in good faith if the people I offer my extra ticket to bail. Everybody has been there, you offer a ticket to someone and last minute they change their mind.

Of course it's not hard to get rid of tickets on social media, but not everybody wants to give out their personal info to strangers online to sell/trade tickets on social media like forums or Reddit. Not to mention the liability of getting scammed. Which is why Ticketmaster and StubHub exist.

You should ask, if you have a cancellation, can they take the ticket back, and if sold, then a refund/credit. They would need time to resell.
I’m sure it would not be something, they’d want to be the norm though.

It was 2386 per ticket. In reality, if they win the Cup it is realistically 1800 or so. And this is if they require 28 games. Not likely. I haven't looked to be honest

I'm just spitballing. I won't necessarily have any unspoken for tickets, but I am a bit concerned that if someone bails and I throw a ticket up on Stubhub Cyril Leeder will show up at my door or something. I think they need to give more clarity on that.

Keep in mind, I am referring to the original discount ticket packages they gave out as a bonus for renewing. I am not referring to the ones released this week that they were extremely upfront about no resale on.
