Will Sens miss the playoffs?

I think they make it in. I don’t think they do much when they are in, but I think they make it. Montreal won’t make it and neither will Detroit IMO

One of the streakiest teams if I remember correctly.

It's like, are they entering the playoffs on a cold streak or a hot streak?

They could sweep or be swept looking at how inconsistent they are.

Even the eye test, sometimes they can dominate the best of teams and outshoot then like 20-2 in a period...and then they can lose to a lowly lottery team while looking awful.

The Sens are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

They are playing quite well at the moment, doubling Buffalo in just about every advanced metric last night, but lost off a combination of bad/good goaltending on both sides.

9 of their remaining 12 games are at home.

They have the 2nd easiest strength of schedule (the Islanders and Blue Jackets have the 3rd and 4th hardest).

They have a decent 5 point buffer, and the tiebreaker.

They are in a very comfortable position, but some Sens fans have a bit too much emotional trauma from the past 8 years to feel comfortable.

You're probably right, but I can't afford to get my hopes up again for nothing.

As of now, I am keeping a realistic expectation for the next month, which is that Michael Andlauer will announce that the Senators are relocating to Stockholm, and Spartacat is being loaned to the Montreal Canadiens under the new alias Chat Sparte. Anything less devastating than that will seem like a win.

Playing Buffalo last night was part of the easy schedule to finish the season
Sort of, but the Sens, like most teams, are much better at home than on the road. And this season, they have really struggled against Buffalo, where there are much better teams they have done well against. Which is normal, every team has weird anomalies like this in their results.

There’s no point.

His argument will be that the Leafs beat the Sens on December 33rd, 2019.

He’s gotten exposed multiple times in this thread for not making any sense. I think he had one too many.

He’s also been angrily DMing me for the past 20 minutes but I keep ignoring them.

He's obviously not the only one.

Yup. But Buffalo actually has the Sens number this year, now 3-0 against them.

But after this weekend, all but one of our games is at home, where we have been solid. Add in some weak opponents to that. And realize the Sens probably make it with .500 hockey.

The teams chasing them are also bad hockey teams.

That's what I was just looking at, who can catch them? Habs are not a better team despite playing some desperate hockey I can't see them making up the ground and if they do, Sens would still have wildcard 2.

Rangers and Islanders are not good teams.

Right now it seems none of the teams jockeying for the wild cards in the East are playing all that well. NJ is third in its division but could fall out as well. The Islanders of all teams may be in the best situation with games in hand? The teams that emerge will definitely be the cream of the crap.

Montreal didn’t, worst points percentage.

Of course Montreal had a higher points percentage in the year that they made the playoffs over the Sens. How could they not? They were in the same division. The Sens had a .455 that season and Montreal had a .527.

Despite losing 3 of their last 4, they still have:

Money puck: 96% chance to make playoffs
Hockey reference: 95.2% chance to make playoffs

There isn't a lot of games left and Ottawa has a big lead...and games in hand...and more home games left...and the tie break.

That's why their odds are so high.

98% now.

Easy schedule, tons of home games, and looks like 90 points will be enough to get in

Leafs fan struggling with math.

It’s not for everyone all these numbers. :(

I pray to god for a Sens-Leafs series. The final nail in the Leafs decade long coffin.

lol I dont see an "x" beside Ottawa in the standings so i'm pretty sure you're the one struggling with math.

you also seem to struggle with history, as the Leafs are 4/4 in delivering spankings to Ottawa in the playoffs. I reckon you're too young to remember though.

Toronto beating Ottawa in the 2004 playoffs was the second last time Toronto won a playoff series so I have no doubts you remember that fondly. It was 21 years ago.

Sad that you have to go back two decades to chirp.

Reminder: The Sens have more playoff series wins than the Leafs during the Auston Matthews era.
