Will Sens miss the playoffs?

The 8th place Habs that went the SCF while the Leafs captain missed the whole series? Okay.

If you want to talk about playoff history: The Senators have never beat the Leafs in the playoffs in their entire existence and they've had multiple matchups.
The new Leafs captain has also missed quite a few playoff series but the stats seem to show he played in them :D

Yeah the 2004 Leafs actually had some heart, unlike the 2025 Leafs. Sens fans would make happy to make the playoffs, but if we got a choice, of course Toronto would be preferable over Tampa or Florida. Plus we own you guys since Greig pissed on Rielly’s soul.

No one is worried about Ottawa in the playoffs. Sens fans have been saying the same thing for multiple years while missing the playoffs.

Would be funny for the Sens to make it just to lost to the Leafs again. Wonder what the narrative changes to then... "Yeah, but the teams better than us keep beating you!"

Better teams than Ottawa beating the Leafs does not mean Ottawa can beat the Leafs in the playoffs.

Tampa, Florida, MTL, CBJ were all better than Ottawa in each of those seasons given they all finished with more points than Ottawa each of those seasons.

You do realize the Leafs are every teams preferable 1st round matchup, right? For the past 7 years?

That's because Ottawa couldn't make it.

They've been the preferred matchup of playoff teams because teams like Ottawa aren't an option most years.

Make the playoffs before you start claiming anyone is scared of the Sens.

The one year that has been an option during the Matthews era, the Sens won more playoff rounds than the Leafs have combined :D

Maybe trade for Karlsson back and send your captain back to junior and you got a shot.

The Sens teams with Prime Karlsson and Stone was way better than the current team. That was the end of an era.
It’s definitely nice having star players actually show up in the playoffs :D

Well yeah he can say other teams that are better than the Senators beat you in the playoffs - but that won't prove his point about the Sens being a dangerous matchup for anyone.
Pretty sure his underlying point was that the leafs don't match up well against anyone in the playoffs unless it's the Sens from two and a half decades ago.

They don't match up with the top teams in the Atlantic well. Ottawa is not one of those.

You talking about when Brady goes to Matthews games? Not sure which Sens players have been showing up in the playoffs otherwise
Look at the post I was responding to - clearly talking about Karlsson, because you brought him up lol

You’ve clearly lost this one, pal. You’re looking desperate, not making any sense, and jumping point to point each time I shut down your arguments. You’ve gone full Auston Matthews in Game 7 mode, to put it into terms you’ll understand.

Goodnight and goodbye ;)

Yeah but if you want to go back then the Leafs counter with Sundin showed up in the playoffs and the Sens stars never showed up. Goes both ways if you want to go back a decade to celebrate.

Compare the past to the past, or the present to the present. Your past to another teams present is an apples to oranges comparison.

You literally brought up the playoffs from 2000-2004 first

Yes, comparing the past to the past.

No one has ever been worried about this version of the Sens. This is a non-playoff team who might make the playoffs and likely is a first round exit (hopefully by the Leafs) if they make it.

The Senators just lost to the last place team in the East tonight in the midst of a playoff race so it's hard to argue anyone is scared of them in a playoff series.

My man, lay off the alcohol. Your liver is struggling here

I agree, Sens are probably a first round exit team against most teams. That’s why we want to play Toronto, who is typically a first round bye and have been our scheduled wins lately.

A first round bye to better teams than the Sens. I assure you the Leafs want that matchup too rather than playing teams above them in the standings.

Making the playoffs for the first time in 7 years just to lose to the Leafs would be funny and take away your entire premise on why the Sens are better.

A first round bye to everyone they play. You read what the other guy who quoted you say, this is an argument you can’t win.

The Jets also lost to them the game before. Does that mean nobody is scared of them either?

The Jets make the playoffs, the Sens don't.

But based on the arguments in this thread, no. No one is scared of the Jets because they often lose in the first round. They're instead scared of the Sens because they miss the first round... or at least that seems to be the argument here.

The fact you brought up that point though prove why it's such a weak argument.
