Of course he will be. Look how good he still is at his age with his build and experience, while still not playing like he did early in his rookie season. When he enters his prime I think he'll be a perennial top 10 scorer in the league, especially if he gets to play with Matthews.

Eichel simply put is a spoiled brat who is killing Buffalo. He got his coach last year fired and look at the result thus far this year. I take Marner every day every time over Eichel...I also believe Marner is the better player. If Marner was the only young star on the Leafs he would have more points and see more quality ice time.

The opposite could actually be true.. The higher you play up the line-up the greater the Q of C you face and more the opposition plays their best players against in defense including Dmen.

Right now Marner is sheltered by Auston and Willie and plays on the 3rd line. Matthews draws the opposition best nightly and Kadri is tasked with shutting down the opposition best as well as #1 and #2 lines as teams 1 & 2 lines go head to head.

That allows Babcock to shelter Marner on the 3rd line with JVR and Bozak as they play nightly against the oppositions 3rd and 4th lines and 2nd and 3rd D pairings. This creates a gigantic mismatch for the Leafs and allows that trio much easier opposition and opportunity to exploit other teams and statistically they flourish. When Babcock plays that trio against better competition they get eaten up defensively and their +/- numbers soar in the wrong direction. So if Matthews wasn't here and Bozak line was #1 (with Marner) then we have a good idea how bad things might look nightly.

To Babcock Marner is a 3rd line RW and point man on the #1PP unit and its putting Mitch is a position to excel offensively in both a sheltered role, favourable match-ups and prime offensive opportunities as well as man up on the PP with lots more time and space to operate out at the point. While Eichel is in the Matthews role playing against the oppositions best and expected to carry the team with a much tougher of Q of C as a result.

Babcock also doesn't want to play Marner with Matthews because it lets the opposition have an easier assignment in shutting them down and as such wants them each driving their own lines and making them tougher to check.

Don't have any evidence that Jack is a spoiled brat but there are many such players. The trick is if whether they can become coachable and turn it around.

It is much simpler to think that Hunter believed Marner would be the best player out of all players left in the draft when he was selected at 4th overall, instead of a whole lot of "what if's" and gambling. In his first draft at the helm of an NHL organization, is Mark Hunter really going to stake his dream job on a kid growing four inches? Occam's Razor to that one. Werenski and Provorov have done well since the draft, but everybody and their brother at the time was expecting Marner to be taken before them. Hanifin was far more highly touted than either of them and he's clearly behind Marner in a redraft at this point.

Marner is already a star.

5 spots??? I understand Werenski, Provorov, and maybe, maybe, MAYBE Boeser. Who else? And that's not even counting passing Strome.

IMO, he'll be fine and a very good player in the league.

Lots of evidence is available...from his own lips. He is so full of his self blamed his team mates and coach last year. When you had a Stanley cup winning coach and you made it him or me and he won and then see the results of a coaching change...

Any evidence of this? Banking on a potential growth suport? Fabricated nonsense.

Non vital building block. So wingers are unable to be "vital building blocks" to cup winners. Patrick Kane was not vital to the Hawks' monumental success?

No idea why I even read your posts on Marner. Fabricating nonsense to back up your position says it all.

Maybe it's was something fabricated on hfboards, but I recall talk about a potential growth spurt too in his draft year too.

Elite vision (second best on the team), elite passing ability, and great skating (could improve on his explosiveness). If he fills out his frame, watch out...

Marner was amazing today! We were told though that he has been invisible 5 on 5 this season.
Clearly a top 5 talent and thats a fact. Oops am I a kid that needs to be ignored for saying that?
