Can the OP update the poll to reflect options for how many goals he lets in next game? Bonus points if you correctly guess the amount of flops as well.

Watching the play again.. i'm starting to wonder whether Fleury's original intention was to try to score with that dump in.

I was thinking this at the time.

At the very least, he was trying to be the hero by launching it out of the zone. His positioning for such a hard dump in was just too unorthodox. Make the safe play. Stay in the net. And if can't (for sanity's sake) do that, at least get your body in front of the puck's path.

What a moron he is.

Did anybody believe that we had a chance to survive til halfway through overtime? You just knew that Fleury's head was gone as soon as the tying goal went in. It was inevitable.

If he can't rebound enough from a fluke to at least get his head into a playoff overtime, why is anyone seriously considering putting him back in for Game 5? I know Zatkoff is awful too , but the teammates know Flower is toast. That affects everyone negatively.

No other organization in the NHL would've stuck with this goalie for this long.

That's the crazy part. They continue to stick with him despite failure after failure.

The last time an organization stuck with such a playoff flop was Vancouver and Dan Cloutier. And even they cut ties eventually.

I can't figure out how to edit the poll. I wanted to lock it last night when the results were still basically 50/50 as proof of how much irrational love MAF gets here.

Haha! I honestly can't believe that it was that close. Like, I'm still flabbergasted, I can't even think how someone would expect otherwise.

Funny how - up until just a couple days ago - the poll was around 54-46.

It still blows me away that 110 people didn't think this would happen.

Fleury has had one good post season in his entire career, professional and amateur combined. This is what he does. He has done it in all but one post season since 2001.

The Pens PR team is good at its job and people don't actually watch games. That's the only logical conclusion I've been able come up with.

Probably. Fleury thinks it's funny or cute or something to try to score on empty nets. But someone needs to tell him that he's among the worst puckhandling goaltenders in the league. And then tether him to the posts so he can't go behind the net when he doesn't listen.

Epic choke. Good thing I voted for choke.

That said, he can still turn these playoffs around. Though with Disco Dunce at the helm, it's going to be an uphill battle for Fleury either way.

Having Fleury and Letang on the back-end is like having two multiple-DUI offenders as your designated drivers for a night out in Vegas

Both of those guys are reckless and WILL make mistakes that can ruin an entire game. It's not about if they will make mistakes, its about when they will happen.

I voted yes of course, however this teams Sabres level "defence" will choke harder. Not to mention everyone losing focus and behaving like butthurt princesses because they're shocked other hockey players are hard and in your face like it's part of the game or something.
In other words just like last year... and the year before... and the year before that.

I ****ing hate how we're wasting the best years of our awesome roster come playoffs.
I hate to say it but... I was the most right.

OK I love it actually: I was most right!

I predicted that Fleury is going to win Conn Smythe and still believe he will.

You do have to love how it was near 50/50 until he choked.

Maybe... there's a very good chance he was. He keeps trying to do it and he keeps failing, it probably cost him a shutout this season.

It cost him a shutout against Columbus earlier in the year. Up 2-0, went for the empty net, hit the post (?), and the Jackets came right back down and scored.

However, I believe Fleury has said that he'll never try for the empty net in a 1 goal game - so I'm more inclined to think that he was looking for an outlet rather than looking to go for the ENG. Of course, even if he stopped the puck there was no outlet because the Jackets were first in on both sides of the net.

If it's the one I was thinking of it veered to the side and missed the net when it looked like it would finally happen for him.

I'm inclined to not trust his decision making in the playoffs, so maybe he was going for it in a 1 goal game. It was stupid regardless of the reason.

I noticed some others talking about it elsewhere but Fleury did exactly the same thing with 45 seconds left in Game 1 and, strangely enough, nobody had a problem with it then because he successfully clear the puck and managed to kill time.

The situations were virtually identical, except that there was a little less pressure on the forecheck in Game 1.
