Olivier is a great character player and is what we are hoping Rempe becomes a version of. I’d love for them to sign him.
I was chatting about him with some friends and they figure he will earn north of 4 million /season . He is getting a good pay raise and he deserves it . He has a role and he plays it well and he has worked hard on his game.....and there are a lot of clubs that don't have guys like him . He is that type of guy you hate going into the corners with . He would be a great playoff guy .

He’s one of the worst offensive players in the league, gets destroyed on possession, and has been significantly outscored while on the ice every year in Columbus. Number 251/254 in GF% and 232 in xG% the last 3 years 2000+ min forwards. He’s a horrible player. What is he good at? Hitting? That’s like paying Rempe 4M.

That does not say much about Fox and the other 3 or so Rangers trying to take the puck off him many times last night ....LOL....

Olivier is the next Goodrow or Jeannot contract waiting to happen. He’s near doubling his career shooting percentage in a contract year, is big and hits. He’s a GMs wet dream mistake contract and will have way more suitors and way more term and AAV than he is worth because of it. I like him fine enough, and watched him plenty in Nashville, but that’s a contract I want the Rangers to stay well the hell away from.
I’d love him on this team, but the context/conditions of course matter. A reasonable contract, then yes. Do I have a handle on “reasonable” for him right now? No. But there’s a big chunk of the season left to gauge that.

I think Vaak would be a good partner with Fox. He’s the opposite of Lindgren. Yeah they’re both uneventful but Vaak does everything well while Lindgren doesn’t do anything well.

IMO he’s our best defensive defenseman. From positioning to stick work/checking. he’s just solid
He reminds me of Stralman. Nothing flashy. Not overly physical but somehow ends up taking the puck away with stick or body positioning.

That’s some hyperbole. Last two seasons he’s scored around 0.23ppg. This year getting about 3mins more per game he’s scoring about 0.32ppg, not some wild outlier. And none of it of course is on the power play. One of the worst offensive players in the league? Come on. We all love Edstrom this year and he was scoring about 0.18ppg before he got hurt while not hitting as much as Olivier. Kreider is at 0.43ppg overall, but 0.22ppg at EV. As far as getting outscored… Olivier s a -9, Ed is -5, Kreider is -6, Zibs is -24…. There are plenty of players worse than Olivier on offense, and otherwise… that don’t bring other things that Olivier brings.
That said, it would need to be a reasonable contract. That should go without saying for ANY signing.

scoring is variable - as has been stated, his Sh% is much higher. his offensive possession quality is consistently poor.

comparing to Edstrom, a rookie, is kinda bogus.

It’s really not that much hyperbole. Olivier is doubling his career shooting percentage this season, and has previous career highs of 5 goals and 15 points. Comparing unfavorably to Kreider, whom this board has trashed for over a season now, isn’t a good selling point.

He hits, and by his standards is having a good season. I’m not touching the >$3M over >3 years he’s about to get from someone because he’s big and hits when he inevitably reverts back to a 5G-15P player who gets caved defensively all game.

Edit: Just so it’s clear I didn’t make up those numbers, it was previously reported that Olivier is looking for a 4-5 year deal around $3M per. Absolutely no way in hell am I touching that.

What Olivier brings is goals for the opposing team.

A reasonable contract is a 2-way deal that has him playing in the AHL.

K'andre has been great lately. Very pleased with his play.
Biggest thing was Miller cleaning up his game from unnecessary self inflicted unforced errors. I don’t even worry / care about still untapped upside. This current version of Miller is good enough but will they be able to agree on a long term contract? Fine line between value of keeping him vs. trading him for a haul and using his $$ to bring another LD. Extension wise my guess it will be something starting with $6 - the closer to that number the less years (like 4] will be on the contract, closer to the upper limit and we’re probably talking 6 years maybe. I don’t think 7/8 years will be there.

Sam and Joe had me loling last night when they praised Olivier’s efforts on that one good chance he had. He didn’t do anything!! Lindgren literally gave him the puck behind the net.
lol is that who he gave it to? i could only focus on 55 on that play. is that chance why leech99 is all up on olivier's nuts??
