Will Fucale be the next World Junior Fleury?

if that means Fucale becomes as good as Fleury I certainly hope so. this is a meaningless tournament in the grand scheme of things

The only reason Russia got back in was terrible pinches by our D and our players taking stupid penalties. Fucale is not to blame.

The correct answer. Bravo sir.

The D went all Harlem Globetrotters/Keystone Cops midway through the second.

What happened to making the safe, smart play?!

Nurse will fit right in with the Oilers. Million dollar talent; 10 cent brain.

I think so. He's been shaky since the first shot, and he's the only reason Russia is in this.

Only reason?

Russia's a good team.

Just look at the total shots on goal.

The Russians are out shooting Canada by a good size margin.

Can't really say Fucale has made a great save tonight. Says a lot about those shots.

I don't like him at all, but he looks much better since TC abandoned the whole "let's crash our net" defensive strategy.

Actually, according to that user, Patrick Roy was a very bad goalie. Brian Hayward and Pat Jablonaki were stars.

Finally a good save at the end to save face.

no Fleury for you Fucale!

First time he's really been tested, and again can't come up with a big game when Canada needs it. No faith in him becoming an NHL goalie at all. Soon as he hits the AHL he will get lit up...badly. All he has is his positioning. No great glove. No great lateral movement. No great flexibility for acrobatic saves. He tries so hard to be Price (copies his stance) but he's a world away and always will be, IMO. ECHL goalie then maybe to Europe.

That's my prediction. If he proves me wrong, then good for him. Jarry was the best goalie to pick, IMO. Was hoping they would come out with Comrie in the 3rd, to be honest. But luckily he never really got challenged a lot in the 3rd, so we were good.

Flame away, if that's your thing...

I guess i was right when i asked...ever watch hockey.
Imagine claiming that Roy was a very bad goalie.

Remember that Leaf Draft pick from 2007 World Juniors team, yeah I don't. That's Fucale and most Canadian goaltenders since then.

It was quite a similar situation for both goalies in this game. Sorokin kept the Russians in late and Fucale came up big late when he needed to be.

Both goalies were feeling the pressure tonight in the first couple periods IMO.

Since 2007 and Price beasting, Canada really hasn't developed a high end NHL goalie or one that has the caliber...

Justin Pogge? Actually, Fucale reminds me of him (or the other way around). But that was quite a while ago, and maybe my memory is really fuzzy. Good positional goalies with nothing else to really bail them out if that fails them, or if they give up a bad rebound. Both had/have bad-to-average recovery ability.

Not quite sure why the Habs wasted a first round pick on Fucale.

He seems like a very nice kid and all, but his backup on the 2012-13 Mooseheads, Chris Clarke (who went 13-1-1) is now the backup goalie for Queens University.

He was their third pick after Big Mac and JDLR.
