He's one of those refreshing cases where you thought you knew what his ceiling was and then he blasts right through it. Let's see how consistent he's able to stay, but he's been one hell of a hockey player this season. He absolutely does it all out there and its one of the few bright spots of this season so far.

I don't think hes a near PPG player still.

But he was written off a bit too early which is insane considering that he was a rookie last year. All the signs of him being a good NHL'er existed last year too.

Captain Cuylle. I loved the suplex on slobkovsky, who would’ve been picking up his teeth if Cuylle didn’t get double teamed and his jersey pulled over his head. Cuylle plays that toughness role much better than Picasso

This guy was always had power forward type of skills. He was always more than a 4th liner, even a 3rd liner. One thing I hope for Roobroeck who explodes into more than a 4th liner.

I was very vocal (relatively) about Cuylle's underwhelming second half and playoffs. Not that I thought he was cooked or something, but that said I was projecting him as in competition for 11-12th forward spot when the season started.

He's been a pleasure to watch so far, and I'm definitely feeling I've underestimated his upside. Hopefully he can continue, even if not at this scoring pace, just with the game by game consistency.

Leave that line alone and f***ing PLAY them.
I can see how his style of play for his first year was probably taxing physically and mentally.

We probably all thought hey he's a nice 40 to 50 pt player but it looks like he'll hit 60 this year on the "3rd" line with limited PP minutes.

Funny how he says he models his game after Tom Wilson but man he's definitely achieved that without 30 suspension worthy hits to his resume.

i don't see him getting 50 points. 40-45 would be great.
he's running very hot. unsustainably so. shooting 21% and 107 PDO at evens. still: 20 points in 23 games, all but 1 at evens, is no joke. He could be a solid 2nd line player on this team for a long time.

Its funny that the media narrative surrounding this team is so negative, the Cuylle story has been totally buried.

for example Ive seen lots of talk about LAK Laferriere, mostly a cheeky shot at our laf, but Cuylle has as many points - more at evens - in fewer games at a minute less TOI per game. Laferriere is a good player though.

The goal scoring will cool down but he's playing great all around hockey that I hope and expect to continue. A 50ish point player with his size, heart & physicality is close to unicorn status in this league and we should be ecstatic if that's the outcome.

110% this.

What's also nice is that Drury and his team appear to be building a team where Cuylle won't be relied on to the THE guy in the physical department like so many of those Gorton teams were where they would sign/trade for Boogaard, Scott, Reaves, etc. With guys like Rempe, Edstrom, Othmann, Berard along with shrewd signings like Carrick the team is trending towards being tough and physical overall.
