I was hinting more towards Adams was doing a rebuild and that the first 1-3 years this team shouldn't have expected playoffs.

My timeline once Sam and Jack went was:

20/21 - bottom barrel
21/22 - bottom barrel
22/23 - bottom 8
23/24 - bottom 12
24/25 - either Wild Card 2 or just out of the playoffs.

Rebuilds are an ugly phase that rarely work. I am not the biggest fan of Adams but I can see what he is trying to do and the constraints previous regimes and he have put on this team with their decisions. Just because we don't want them to exist doesn't mean they don't exist and there isn't, most likely, a person who comes in and the Aura around the team goes away.

I am also not saying Adams is a good or great GM. I am saying when he took on this mess, it was in shambles. I am sure he thought he could fix it in 4 years but there are maybe 3 or 4 GM's out there that could have fixed it and been in the playoffs in 4 or less years. If they fired him tomorrow, I would be fine with it but the reality is Regier burning it down, Murray trying to fast track a rebuild and Botterill having no f***ing clue how to be a GM all put this team into a deep void for Adams to try and be a Phoenix when he is more of a Penguin

UPL showed ok, then stumbled and Levi came in fresh and looked good and then UPL took over while Devon floundered. Comrie was bad. He then properly put Devon down for good, a bit late, this year.

Tldr - I believe he is trying, solid rumors out there indicate it but him banking on Ullmark really set his plan back awhile.

First, he's not going anywhere because Adams is Pegula. Second, Ruff has a two year contract so he will still be here next year, so what would be the point? No good GM would come into this situation while Ruff is still here anyways.

HC and GM still have at least a year on each contract...youth getting into prime...faith in the locker room...yada yada after bs after talking points. Same shit, different year. The only real difference is that the team will have a whole year under Ruff's system and probably won't be farking terrible. So, probably finish ahead of Boston and maybe Detroit. Playoffs though??? Yeah i was trying to figure out how long his extension was but I don’t think there’s a definitive answer. I would think its 3 years and its been 2 since he signed it. So i tgink he comes back but Pegula lets the contract run out

Should he be? Absolutely. In a league where 1/2 the teams make the playoffs, a 5 year drought, especially when you start with two productive 1st line forwards and a blossoming franchise d-man to build off of, is unacceptable by any standard.

Will he be? Time will tell. I do think his seat is warmer than people think. The "early renewal" offer given to fans may have been a quick way to take the temperature of the fan base. He should have been gone in December after the press conference when he rattled off every excuse as to why none of this was his fault. I think it'll likely be a financial decision rather than a competence decision, sadly. The cheapest way to get the fanbase re-engaged might be to replace Adams, similar to last year where they made the nostalgia play at coach with Ruff rather than do a real coaching search.

15/16 moves Nader to improve club.

The big difference was from prior yrs drafts. In the first rebuild they moved out what they had in U25 youth. Thus time they had more youth_ layers than before

Pominville, VanEK, and Miller were the big trades. This team had more vets yo sell off for high picks

I don’t think he can be fired. I think our best hope is that he gets “promoted” similar to Matt Ellis as a face saving gesture. He could get promoted to president of something or another, and removed from hockey decisions if Pegula doesn’t like the results he’s seeing. I doubt he’s canned outright.

I thought it was time for this thread to begin , if there already is a thread on this I apologize .

But there is less than 10 games left in the season , Kevyn Adam’s has had 5 drafts , 3 coaches , 5 full offseason’s, he has overseen a full rebuild , traded a few stars ie ( Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart ) who have both gone on to win the Stanley Cup.

And finally the team has taken a gigantic step back this season and we are in the draft lottery after Lindy Ruff was brought back to revitalize the franchise and that plan had failed miserably

Enough is Enough and I will get the ball rolling . I think Terry Pegula fires Adam’s the moment the season ends , I see no way and no how Adam’s gets a 6th season to run the franchise.

Whose fault is it Ullmark bailed? It's Adams who low balled Ullmark in the summer of 2020, leading to Ullmark filing for arbitration, and then settling on a cheap 1 year deal which walked him to UFA.

Can you imagine how insulting the initial offer Adams made to Ullmark must have been for this to be the contract they settled on to avoid arbitration?

In Adams defense, it does reek of an internal budget that he low-balled both Ullmark and Reinhart right after Terry's "effective, efficient, economic" comments. But if you believe Adams, he has never had an internal budget.
