AHL: Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins 24 25 the Players Sully Hates

I think they know Brunicke is going to be the RD taking the place of Karlsson. Pens need to get the prospects ready to gain PT in the NHL. Broz, Pickering, McGroarty, Kuivunen, Ponomarev, Poulin have to be in that mix.

Calvert does look really good. At both ends of the ice.

Not a prospect but Hollowell is kinda interesting to focus on. He steps up for big hits like every shift. He tends to get the worst of it because of his size but at least he’s ballsy. Wearing an A today. Not sure if he comes back given the RD depth though.

Not noticed Brunicke much but I’m not watching closely. His skating is good enough for this level but he looks a little slight of build. Something about him reminds me of old school early 90s defenders but I’m not sure what.. I think it has to do with his equipment being not very bulky. Thin shin pads and it hardly even looks like he’s wearing shoulder pads. That plus the jerseys/colorway is reminding me of Larry Murphy and Paul Stanton.

Hayes has the moves to turn nothing into something at times, sorta like Bryan Rust. Just kinda like slipping his check and driving it to the net.

Poulin is all over the puck and getting a lot of low percentage chances.

Oh and Laferriere is pretty good. Worth re-signing at least. Good AHL depth and still pretty young, doesn’t count as a veteran. Has size which our forward group lacks. He’s been used on both wings.

How are the Baby Pens shaping up for next year? I'm assuming one of McGroarty and Koivunen will be in the NHL team along with Ponomarev.

McGroarty/Koivunen - Broz - Puustinen
Poulin - Hayes - XXX
Howe - XXX - Stillman
XXX - XXX - Calvert
Renwick

Pickering - St Ivaney
Aho - Pietila
XXX - Harding
Belliveau

I wonder if they bring back Johnstone, he's 28 but still qualife sas a development player (under 260 pro games, have to dress 12 of these players) and can do a job in the bottom 6, not taking time away from the prospects. Katchouk seems worth a shout for a two-way deal, he's got a decent amount of NHL experience. Hollowell and Kral will both qualify as having less than 320 pro games (you'll around to dress 1 of these per game). Laferrière would still count as an development player (under 260 games)

Biggest problem to solve is obviously the goalies. Need to get Murashov in the AHL permnanetly so Blomqvist or Larsson to backup Jarry in the NHL.

If Katchouk or Kopp wanna check out Europe I’d go after Studnicka, Cal Burke or Chris Wagner.

The organization already has too many goalies but Id be trying to sign Maine's goalie, Boija. He put up a great season this year

I could be wrong, but I believe we are at 48 contracts out of a possible 50. So we can even sign a player or two and promise them a game or two at the NHL level to attract them to sign here before sending them back down to WBS for the playoffs!! The luxury of sucking!!!
