AHL: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins: '24-'25 The Players Sully Hates

I would like to welcome back to WBS Owen Pickering. The young Defensemen will be spending probably the rest of the season here so lets give him a warm welcoming.

Really wonder whats the point of drafting players when Sully isnt going to play them. Dubas BS about bring up young players is getting old.

McG hit hard into the boards as he was turning. Got up slow and hobbled down the runway..

Edit:Hes back, hopefully just the wind knocked out. Expect him to be week to week tomorrow

He takes another big hit, and Poulin steps in and the teams come together. Starting to get chippy

They should be honored just to bask in the presence of a genius like Mike Sullivan.

I honestly think some of that is some of the chances he faces. Ive seen tons of plays where theres a bad giveaway down low or bounce off the zamboni door and 2 seconds later the puck is being shot from the slot. Hes almost always in good position and makes the reactionary save.
 
Pens win! 2-1 final. Murashov 28 of 29. Solid performance, what else is new. I really wish it was 2001, I would start a geocities fan page for him.
McG and Pono the goal scorers.

Couple other notes. Kral didnt play when I was here last time, hell of a skater. Disgruntled prospect and future Pen Simon Nemec played for Utica. I think hes big issue is solid all around, but doesn't stand out. Not a sexy #2 pick. Like a slightly more physical Paul Martin.

Yeah, I don't watch much AHL/ECHL, but we've seen lots of bad rebound control in our time as Pens fans and I just don't get that from the clips. I'd be happy to stand corrected if wrong.
 
Even if Murashov has bad rebound control right now, I don't think it kills him as a prospect. Dude is 20 and has mostly only played in the MHL/ECHL. No goalie is going to be a finished project at that age, I'm just happy the dude has crazy athleticism and can stop a puck.

He'll need to refine his technique but you can't teach the athleticism he has.

Yeah, he's definitely still coachable.
 
I don’t want Murashov anywhere near the top squad. We’re currently ruining our other goalie prospect behind Sullivan’s “defense”.

Same with McGroaty. The few game stint at the NHL he wasn’t ready for and I think that contributed to his slow start. Let him get a full year at the AHL.

Pens are in good shape in goal for the future. Really want to see St Ivany play well as the helps the RD. Broz, Rutger and Ponomarev will be up at some point later this year or next year. Add in Bruniche and Pickering and Dubas has more younger players to develop than Pens have had in years.
 
I still think McG was fine in his NHL time. He's not a Celebrini, Bedard, etc. so him kinda playing a safe sorta style and not instantly producing as he adjusts to the speed/strength of the NHL game was a non-issue. /shrug

But it's also fine that he's in the AHL. Hopefully this team fires the idiotic coach this spring and McG gets to play on a line with Sid and Hagens, Martone or Misa in October. :laugh:
 
Bemstrom standing on the doorstep makes it 1-0 from Katchouk and Koiv. Jarry has stopped all 4 shots hes faced.

As im typing, Hayes scored a Bryan Rust looking goal. 2-0. Pono and Renouf 🍎
