They don't have room for anyone. They're full at 23. They'll need to send someone down - probably Puljujarvi - when Malkin comes off IR.

They could swap things around and go from 13 forwards/8 defensemen to 14 forwards/7 defensemen, but they seem to like having eight defensemen on the NHL roster if possible.

Bernstom would probably be at least a marginal upgrade considering he’s several years younger. Plus you reward someone for doing well and hold another player accountable for not.

I know that concept is lost on Sully though.

Skating doesn't seem to be the issue it was made out to be imo. Hasn't been in really any of the time I've gotten to watch McG play, in Pittsburgh or WBS. Sure, he's not McDavid or Makar but he's fine skating-wise, imo.
