Koivunen was the only piece of the Jake trade that I had hope for. Glad he’s heating up.

Just think, If he keeps that pace for 3 more years, he’ll get to play 5 mins a night with Matt Nieto.

That was basically the point. Let's hope he's not the new Callander, who used to tear up the AHL. Might've won an A scoring title, can't remember that specific that far back.
But his horrendous skating made him a complete flop in the NHL.

For now. He was hot garbage for the first 1/4 of the season. He’s a streaky meh player who we should have been compensating for taking off Carolina’s hands considering the circumstances.

My issue was with Dubas and the deal more than the player himself. Hope he keeps it up and we can turn him into another one of those mid round picks we’ve been stocking up on.

Tavares in his early-mid 20s maybe? He only got to being average, but it was significantly better than how he started.

Yeah skating rarely improves. Unless some kind of physiological change happens late in life they’ve been skating that way their entire lives. For players it’s like walking and second nature.

I wouldn't say skating rarely improves, I would say speed rarely improves. If Koivunen becomes slightly more agile/strong on his skates that could make up for weaknesses in speed.

I wouldn't say skating rarely improves, I would say speed rarely improves. If Koivunen becomes slightly more agile/strong on his skates that could make up for weaknesses in speed.
