Kain Tisi intrigues me as a goalie coach. I know the Penguins hired a bunch of Leafs scouts and coaches as well but I do find it curious how the goalie coaching changes go on. Usually the goalie that becomes the #1 they will favour the voice he wants - Fleury had Bales, Murray had Buckley, then the Penguins promoted Chiodo to take over and now Tisi is the Goalie Coach/Developmental in WBS.

He came over in 2021-22, its hard to really read the impact they have - The goalies are all up and down in WBS, last year was one of the better seasons under TIsi mainly helping the goalies in WBS for 3yrs.

Meanwhile, Chiodo, I'm not sure what's up but its like our goalies have a strong start under him and then falter after the second half, this year being a different beast altogether.
I think that it was the Islanders when Barry Trotz came in as head coach, and he almost set up an entire hockey operations staff focused on goaltending. If I am remembering it correctly, he had a director of goalie development and then the coaches at each level as well as goalie development coaches and scouts just for goalies. That might be where this is going.

Most of those kinda guys got a lot of points on the PP at lower levels but aren’t going to bump anyone off the 1st unit on any NHL team.

Frk, Bemstrom, Sterling, etc.

I'm going to try watching the last two WBS games. One at at time. Mostly to watch McG.

McG taking some odd skating angles. Like, coulda shoulda sealed the opposition against the boards. Instead let them have an easy lane.

G getting some PK time.

Dollar store Tkachuk looking like a great signing. Poulin looking better than last season and he looked pretty decent then.

Koivunen is sneaky.

LHV has Garrett Wilson. Remember when GMJR said he was our answer to Tom Wilson? Lol.

G on the RW wall can't make the easy pass to get out of the zone. Basically passed it right to the other team.

Two really quick goals by LHV to start the 2nd. Can't really fault Ned but it is what it is.

Another terrible "clear" by McG. Like, why are you sending it to the other team in the middle of the ice?

McG and Ned almost big brained it on the PK to get Ansons a shortie.

McG with an o-zone entry and passes it to LHV just like his d-zone clears. I wonder if it's because he was RW? Probably not.

I'm going to stop watching after two periods instead of two games. Everyone but McG looked at least decent or not noticeable.

Could be "first" game jitters but, uhhh, this was not inspiring from McG. Probably the worst player on WBS through those two periods.

I don't think I'll watch his second game. But I think I'll be able to watch the WBS game this Saturday. He better be better.

In reviewing the Penguins hockey operations chart, I see that each affiliate has a goalie coach as well as a director of goaltending under player development. Not knowing what each scout is responsible for, I only saw one former goalie (Gilles Meloche) listed there. So there might be some concentration on that position. Also, I saw Trent Mann listed as a player development and scouting advisor. I know that he used to be the head coach for the Hershy Bears so that is an interesting guy to have in the system.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton plays Syracuse tonight and tomorrow. Wheeling plays Reading Saturday and Sunday.

He got embarrassed on a play in the NHL and got immediately sent down, his confidence is probably ass which is annoying since he had a good pre-season to build it up. Should have sent him down to begin with if you weren't going to keep him up.

Barry Trotz has had the luxury of having, arguably, the best goalie coach on the planet in mitch korn. Mitch Korn has followed him where ever he goes, and you can see the result. Every goalie under him is improved

J.D. Forrest is an assistant with Syracuse. Glad he landed on his feet, not his fault our prospect pool has been thin.
