That being said, if they promised the kid a spot - it's bad look to promise something and retract it. However, things change, both the kid and the organization need to adapt. From what I have seen and read, the spot wasn't promised but they expressed they wanted to run 3 goalies, with him being the third but salary limitations got in the way of it.

I’m a very happy and upbeat glass half full person in almost all aspects of life except Minnesota sports. That’s how pathetic what I’ve had to witness has been for my entire juvenile and adult life.

Oh absolutely. It was a ridiculous idea to roll with three, but they started putting plans in place anyway. As to why the GM didn’t see that it wasn't going to work.....well.....he was probably using the same vision that saw Nyquist and Brazeau working out even though the red flags were waving in front of his face.

You can be annoyed about the inconsistent messaging from the FO without excusing Wallstedt for an absolutely atrocious performance. His treatment was not bad enough to justify his play.

Hopefully he learns from this, but the red flags from this situation should be primarily directed at the player that couldn’t stop a beach ball instead of the FO that over-promised and under-delivered.

Agreed. Two bad years in a row could spell doom for his spot with the Wild. That won't necessarily define his entire career, but I'd be surprised to see the Wild in particular put stock in him after that.

Ritchie, yes
Kumpulainen is technically on loan to Liiga and could return at any time, but who knows, he looks like he's the type who's going to have a career as a 4th liner if anything in the NHL
Lorenz looks like nothing and may end up going the UFA route if he plays another year at Denver

I wouldn't be surprised if Stramel wants nothing to do with playing for the Wild and goes the UFA route after next season either. College players don't normally go back for their fourth year if they can help it unless they want to go to free agency. That, and every career move he's made so far has been him getting away from playing hockey in Minnesota.

Like this list(assuming Jiricek doesn't meet credentials), same top-7 for me with 8/9 flipped, have Kiviharju at 15 though(Spacek-Lorenz-Kumpulainen-Pionk-Hlavaj).

Russo mentioned that Ritchie might transfer to an East Coast Uni for next season, rather than return to the WHL. Also, Kalem Parker was not given a contract offer. Just one of many average sized D prospects with average physicality. He was a RHD, but I guess there wasn't enough there, there for MN.
