I've posted this before, but I was at my parents the other day.

I found my CHL 1992 Referee training manual.

It had a whole chapter on "game management".

This is what they TEACH young referree's. This is not an NHL thing. This is a hockey thing, engrained on refs who are reffring tyke and novice.

why would they change?

they literally train refs about game management from day 1.

I reff'd AAA right up to Provincial Junior A.

We would literally be reviewed and game management was a section of our review.
