Stupid mindset. We’ve come back from down 3 with less time than this remaining before. Sure it’s extremely unlikely but you play til the final whistle man.

Play till the final whistle? How about showing up for the game and scoring some goals and playing some ****ing defense.

Ooooh we found a way to take a goal off the board. Sweet. Now it’s a 4-0 ENG instead of a 4-0 ESG, what an improvement.

4,3,3 point totals for wild’s first line while our top guys no showed. Team isn’t going anywhere unless Necas and Svech show up 5 on 5 consistently. Necas hot start is a thing of the past he’s back to being the old Necas

I’m not saying they need to go balls-out and risk injury, but the total lack of effort by Kotkaniemi on that last rush was emblematic of where this team is mentally. You’re getting shut out at home, there’s like 20 seconds left, maybe move your feet and try to get a decent shot off instead of just floating around and running down the clock?

Last 13 games Necas has 1 empty net goal it’s just nowhere close to good enough and he’s not the only one to blame but you ask for a bigger role in the offseason start of strong and now disappear. Call Vancouver and fire those trade talks up I can’t see Necas as a long term piece here

Didn’t you just advocate not challenging because the game was over?

Like I said, I’m not talking about barreling into the goalie trying to cram the puck over the line or something. There’s a wrong way to do it, the game’s obviously decided.

But we’re not talking about 3 seconds left when he picked up that puck. It was like 20. He could have at least tried for a shot crossing the blue line, something to show he was still mentally engaged in a hockey game.

What he did was NBA-esque. Seeing that in a hockey game, especially in context of a humbling home loss, is a bad look for him and the team as a whole.

I just rewatched that last shift to make sure I wasn’t being old-man-yelling about Kotkaniemi.

I didn’t notice in real time that after he made the weak dump-in and kind of drifted toward it rather than chasing, Robinson actually looked at him put his hand up toward the Wild player like “you gonna forecheck this guy or what”?

This is the first time I’ve really honestly felt like we’re better off without him, and maybe the first time I’ve seen what Rod sees. I’m ok with him falling short of expectations and being a Staal-lite generic roster filler type player. But a player like that needs to have an inherent competitive edge that makes him difficult to play against. If he’s a guy who goes soft when things don’t feel good, trade him to your rival for nothing. It’ll pay off in Game 7.

The best thing that’ll happen for this team is when him and Necas aren’t on it.
