lets say its pick 2-4, still not worth it?
Wouldn't consider it for a second, personally.
If the Toronto pick were the core piece that'd be one thing, but Ottawa would laugh at that offer.

Too early. Wait until he's closer to UFA and looking for a way out, then you can buy him with like a year left on his deal and give him an 8 year extension. If he extends, then look for someone else at that time.if Hawks are big fish hunting how do they get Brady out of OTT to play with Bedard because he would fit perfectly...and would an offer of Misa/Hagens/Martone get it done, is it even a fair deal
Tkachuk for our first this year or next?....no thank you.if Hawks are big fish hunting how do they get Brady out of OTT to play with Bedard because he would fit perfectly...and would an offer of Misa/Hagens/Martone get it done, is it even a fair deal
Why are you obsessed with crappy players?Trade for Samoskevich and Minten
You don't see the vision. Why are you obsessed with crappy players?
They're not gonna give them away for free while they're still waiver-exempt. Hawks have to give them some vet piece that could help them win in the Playoffs right now.You don't see the vision.
Samoskevich is one of the best skaters in the league.
Minten is more of a 3rd line type, but he's got a good build and plays a well rounded game. Nice piece to add.
We could add both of them. Toronto and Florida are looking for win-now pieces. You can pry these promising young players from them at a price that won't hurt the Hawks in any way. They're both NHL ready, so you don't need to wait around for them. They can start playing with the Hawks young core right away.
I've made my offers very clear. They're not gonna give them away for free while they're still waiver-exempt. Hawks have to give them some vet piece that could help them win in the Playoffs right now.
Minten is probably just a career bottom 6 player. I dunno why Hawks would make him a priority. I'm sure you'd offer up something like stupid like Boisvert straight up, but the Hawks have a lot of forward prospects pretty similar to him.
this one of course, if you grade Brady higher than the field with that pickTkachuk for our first this year or next?....no thank you.
He's basically a point per game player who brings a different element to the game than most other players, and than anyone we have. I would not be disappointed if Martone turned out to be as good as him, or if Misa was a point per game player.I’d be a bit disappointed if our 2025 top pick ends up worse than Brady. As unique as he is he doesn’t really produce as much as people value him. I’m kind of expecting a top 3 pick at this point but maybe I shouldn’t. I do think Misa, Hagens, and Schaefer will be better than him. Obviously there no guarantee but I wouldn’t want to lose all of those entry level and restricted years. Picks are more valuable than ever considering what UFAs will soon be making.
I’d sign him when his current deal is up though.
He did have the one year at PPG but I think he is more of a 70 point guy. He’s on a pretty decent team this year and that’s what he is on pace for (a bit less). To me that’s a different tier of player. He's basically a point per game player who brings a different element to the game than most other players, and than anyone we have. I would not be disappointed if Martone turned out to be as good as him, or if Misa was a point per game player.
Why are we cashing our potential trade chips to add another '04 born likely career bottom six? Just adding to a log jam with limited upside. Trade Donato for a pick. Bring Dickinson back for a vet for next year and if he's doing OK probably do the same. Ensure a steady stream of prospects that will be hitting stride as cap decisions are being made on older, non-waiver exempt players from the first batch. Just sign the veteran version of Fraser Minten for your bottom six instead of toiling around for a few years developing another one when you can trade your current vets for picks.I've made my offers very clear.
Donato + Dickinson (@50% retention) to Toronto for Minten. The Hawks get rid of two guys they're not going to keep long term. They add a young guy who probably isn't going to be a top 6er, but he's a nice supporting piece you can keep for a long time.
Samoskevich is an offseason move, when everyone gets a big cap boost. We trade Seth Jones (with no retention) for Samoskevich. If Kyle is crafty, he can also get the rights for Shuravin. Two great young pieces and you rid yourself of the bum Seth Jones.
Nothing of value lost.
Moves like that amount to big wins in the larger picture.
Good luck drafting a player as good as Minten with a shit pick in a shit draft from a Donato pick. Why are we cashing our potential trade chips to add another '04 born likely career bottom six? lmao, it's Minten. You can sign the vet version of Minten in Free Agency at any point. That's a fine prospect when you have a core in place and just need some cheap depth, but Hawks should be prioritizing building a core first. If he's available for free, great, but there's no reason to not use trade chips on spreading out prospects more so than just adding to the same age as the current onesGood luck drafting a player as good as Minten
Why would you want the vet version, when you can get the young version and keep him around for many years to come?lmao, it's Minten. You’ve already got your own guys like that you’re developing. Hawks aren’t starved for another 21 year old prospect right now.Why would you want the vet version, when you can get the young version and keep him around for many years to come?
Yes rationale that makes sense so that Toronto would trade him.Good luck drafting a player as good as Minten with a shit pick in a shit draft from a Donato pick.
That's the problem with all this pick accumulation. Uncertainty.
With Minten I know exactly what I'm getting. 6'2" 20 year old center that skates well, plays hard, and can win draws.
Some of you really f***ing love your lottery tickets.
Why would he draft a goalie that skates fast?Again, Donato and Dickinson aren't prized trade chips. If you can move them for Minten, that's way better than Kyle getting a 2nd round pick that he'll just waste on a shitty overage goalie that he likes because he skates fast.
He's hit a point per game once in his career. That is not "basically a point per game player".He's basically a point per game player who brings a different element to the game than most other players, and than anyone we have. I would not be disappointed if Martone turned out to be as good as him, or if Misa was a point per game player.
you don't think that 2 million depth piece Donato is worth that alone? You throw in another 2.125 million depth Center to make sure you get that?Good luck drafting a player as good as Minten with a shit pick in a shit draft from a Donato pick.
