Who do you want Davidson to make very rich this offseason?

if Hawks are big fish hunting how do they get Brady out of OTT to play with Bedard because he would fit perfectly...and would an offer of Misa/Hagens/Martone get it done, is it even a fair deal
Too early. Wait until he's closer to UFA and looking for a way out, then you can buy him with like a year left on his deal and give him an 8 year extension. If he extends, then look for someone else at that time.

I think dreams of the biggest fish Rantanen and Marner are dead with the cap increase. I could see Marner maybe wanting a change but no way Rantanen doesn't extend in the perfect (and very Finnish) environment. Carolina doesn't give up Necas either for a rental.

So then we should be looking at guys like Nelson, Ehlers etc. But I think 1 or max 2, depending on if who we draft is ready to make the jump straight away. For example I think at least Misa would be, which changes the equation. Bringing in more vets would be getting in the way of Slaggert/Dach/Reichel.

Bertuzzi - Bedard - Nazar
Teravainen - Misa - X
Slaggert - Dickinson - Mikheyev
Dach - Reichel - Foligno

So I could see another higher level guy added like Nelson let's say, to push Reichel/Foligno into 13th d competition, or Slaggert/Dach into AHL competition.

So yeah I expect a winger and a center coming in, especially if the pick isn't Misa or Hagel, and theyre not ready straight away. Gonna guess it's Nelson and Ehlers.

On defense, please please no extra signings.

Vlasic - Crevier
Korchinski - Jones
Del Mastro/Allan - Murphy
Brodie

If we are able to unload Jones it would be great, although then it becomes harder to match the young pairings.

I could see Misa doing a year at Michigan if he isn't actively prevented in some ways by the OHL or the CHL-NHL Transfer Agreement. He almost did a Tender with the Steel/Commit to Michigan like Power and Fantilli before he got Exceptional Status into the OHL. Jump on after the college year ends and get some games at the end of 2025-26.

Why are you obsessed with crappy players?
You don't see the vision.

Samoskevich is one of the best skaters in the league.

Minten is more of a 3rd line type, but he's got a good build and plays a well rounded game. Nice piece to add.

We could add both of them. Toronto and Florida are looking for win-now pieces. You can pry these promising young players from them at a price that won't hurt the Hawks in any way. They're both NHL ready, so you don't need to wait around for them. They can start playing with the Hawks young core right away.

They're not gonna give them away for free while they're still waiver-exempt. Hawks have to give them some vet piece that could help them win in the Playoffs right now.

Minten is probably just a career bottom 6 player. I dunno why Hawks would make him a priority. I'm sure you'd offer up something like stupid like Boisvert straight up, but the Hawks have a lot of forward prospects pretty similar to him.

I've made my offers very clear.

Donato + Dickinson (@50% retention) to Toronto for Minten. The Hawks get rid of two guys they're not going to keep long term. They add a young guy who probably isn't going to be a top 6er, but he's a nice supporting piece you can keep for a long time.

Samoskevich is an offseason move, when everyone gets a big cap boost. We trade Seth Jones (with no retention) for Samoskevich. If Kyle is crafty, he can also get the rights for Shuravin. Two great young pieces and you rid yourself of the bum Seth Jones.

Nothing of value lost.

Moves like that amount to big wins in the larger picture.

I’d be a bit disappointed if our 2025 top pick ends up worse than Brady. As unique as he is he doesn’t really produce as much as people value him. I’m kind of expecting a top 3 pick at this point but maybe I shouldn’t. I do think Misa, Hagens, and Schaefer will be better than him. Obviously there no guarantee but I wouldn’t want to lose all of those entry level and restricted years. Picks are more valuable than ever considering what UFAs will soon be making.

I’d sign him when his current deal is up though.

He's basically a point per game player who brings a different element to the game than most other players, and than anyone we have. I would not be disappointed if Martone turned out to be as good as him, or if Misa was a point per game player.

He did have the one year at PPG but I think he is more of a 70 point guy. He’s on a pretty decent team this year and that’s what he is on pace for (a bit less). To me that’s a different tier of player.

If the guy we pick is an actual PPG guy, then I won’t be disappointed either. Maybe that’s a fallacy of me looking at round or significant numbers too much but that’s how I feel.
