His name is written on the lineup every night and he isn't putting it there himself.
They obviously feel he is doing the job or they wouldn't dress him every night.
He's playing pretty much how most expect him to.
Not sure what you find strange. That is the obvious answer.
Yes decoding ACC1224 defending the play of Simmonds blaming coach and GM selecting him as the reason. Simmons is a bum in 2022, period. No one else us responsible. He must go, he is filling a valued spot
I just found it strange that those who want toughness want Wayne gone.
It would be nice if we could afford someone big, tough, fast and could score lots of goals on the fourth line, and had free unicorns every Saturday home game.
The thing is to your point about those want toughness want wayne gone, they want a specific type of toughness. Otherwise you might as well sign a boxer who can skate.
Plus that toughness plays what? Like 8 minutes a game? That's not moving the needle. You need team toughness throughout ala bunting. Guys who play strong, take a hit, get under the skin, dish it out whilst still being productive members of the team in terms of either scoring or preventing scoring. Simmonds does neither.
Does make many slick plays with the puck, seems a step behind so that he can't be disruptive on the forecheck. Hasn't mixed it up much this year either.
Fast hands, had some great pond hockey and translated it into a huge financial win.
But a good hockey player? Guy is awful. Same as Holl.
Get rid of these two guys, and you fill in big holes.
Holl is best friends of you know who and Wayne represents X, so dubas is handcuffed, he is a global thinker, mmm well Kylie, we facing either tampa or Florida, first round.
If you are going to make a trade, make it a good one.
Our goaltending sucks so dont trade the whole team to get J T Miller.
Honestly Simmonds is more skill than braun. He has soft hands and is intelligent with the puck and on the ice. However, for what we need him for which is a physical 4th line winger, well, he doesn't do much of that..
I still remember last year's playoffs. He made no impact physically and no impact on the game at all.
Corey Perry with 16g and 17a for Tampa. I hope he didn't want to come here because if we chose Simmonds over Perry 2 years in a row, the Leafs need a clue.

Perry did want to play the year before. But I believe we signed Joe Thornton instead of him
There were rumors by Friedman that Leafs were interested in Perry

But he brings nothing, he can't shoot, he can't skate, he can't hit anyone cause he's too slow.
Games where the Leafs get physically manhandled he does nothing...may as well get somebody in that can skate and kill a penalty.
you could replace him with a fringe nhler like deslauriers and i dont think the leafs would be worse off.
he isnt an nhl calibur player anymore. every time he suits up that team is considerably worse. i dont really care how much he can punch someone in the face if he cant do anything else.
