Why is Wayne Simmonds on the Team?

I don't understand why he gets a free pass, he basically does nothing.
He'll throw a hit once every 20 games but that's about it.

Defensive liability, doesn't PK, black hole offensively, etc.

Just put him in the press box every game, so he can still travel with the team.


Why is this plug taking a roster spot away from one of our promising Marlies players?

I like Simmer being a Leaf. Character guy who doesn't back down. Never complains.

Yes the skill isn't the same as it once was but he's not here to score 20 to 30 anymore.

Come playoffs he could be huge. He keeps people in line.

He may not play every game later on depending on what happens with trades but lately like his play. He's been good along the boards and he's been putting in a good effort.

Maybe I'm one of the few but 4th line minutes no problem.

If you compare him to a 25 year old Wayne Simmonds it's not the best. But we can't afford a player of that caliber. So if you think of what Simmonds can do vs a guy like Michael Amadio, you take Simmer every time.

Before this thread, his last post was Dec 8th, 2020 when he claimed how great of a signing Joe Thornton was, and how much gas he had left in the tank.

Keep his leadership in the pressbox.

Call up Anderson or Steeves, I'm sure they can play better than Simmonds, and, create mismatches on the 4th line.

But a good hockey player? Guy is awful. Same as Holl.

Get rid of these two guys, and you fill in big holes.

If you are going to make a trade, make it a good one.

What kind of question is this? He's a fourth line player who scores at 4th line rates and brings physical toughness plus veteran leadership. He's not an offensive force anymore, but he's still a perfectly good hockey player who does his job well.

Problem really isnt him, its the fact hes with Spezza. Togther they are very slow and ineffective. Especially when we are on the road

Those who say he will be an impactful player in the playoffs, well, why wasnt he last year ? He had injuries ? Yeah a wrist problem. He still couldnt hit anyone or did anything meaningful

Perry and Anderson took him to school. I wouldnt bet on him to become the 25 year old Simmonds just because regular season ends
