Why is Jumbo in the lineup

Arguably one of the worst players to consistently get in the lineup in the Matthews era. He adds nothing at all of value most nights.

I thought he was good for a 700k player tonight. No soft giveaways in the neutral or defensive zone that stood out. Made some nice plays with and without the puck in the offensive zone. If he can play that game, I am fine with him. Bogus hooking call imo, he lifted the stick (did not touch glove and the Sens player grabbed the stick).

Sometimes players struggle after returning from injury. Right now Joe is at a 0.46 points per game. I don't see that he needs to be canceled.

He had a great February after coming back and has been progressively worse since. If he's still injured he should just sit out until he can actually contribute. Or, y'know, maybe he's just 42 and at the end of the road.

Jumbo is a locker room presence. That’s his job. He makes league minimum, so let’s not get on his case too much. Keefe is overusing him a bit, but even that’s getting better day by day. My guess is Keefe sees just how important he is in that locker room, so still making him relevant on the ice amplifies that.

Yes, let him skate with the team in practice for this vastly overblown invaluable presence. We have Muzzin, Bogo, JT, Spezz, Simmons, Brodie, lots of experience. Also, these aren’t “kids” anymore like the logic used when we brought in Marleau, they’ve matured and are ready to lead. I think he’s a great guy, but even Joe said we had a great room when he came aboard, what is he really adding except some laughs and camaraderie? Is it all the cups he’s won? Sorry, if he has some chops left he plays, if he continues to look completely ineffective and an actual liability, then deferring to his pedigree makes no sense, he sits.

I hope he does find some semblance of a game again, we could use him, no doubt.
