Why is Holl still in the lineup??

Holl is a good bottom pairing D. Great on the pk. Just makes flashy mistakes at times. I love Schenn, and would probably put him in, but lets not forget that Holl has twice the wheels that Schenn does.

He's passable against top competition when paired with Gio or Brodie. The top guys will score 5 on 5 regardless, but those pairs are better than most at defending those guys. I get that Holl is better suited for the 3rd pair, but he's a decent NHL defensemen.

Schenn out there against Tampa or Bostons top line would be horrendous with his footspeed.

Worst part of yesterday is that it's passed and this dud is still with the team. Honestly think Holl has something on management otherwise he'd be out the door. Hopefully he signs somewhere else come summer so we don't have to a watch him anymore and b put this love affair with Keefe and Dubas to an end. Mind you one of those 2 or both will probably be gone as well.

You don't put him against top lines, he's a third pairing guy

More concerned about no one stepping up after. If all you got to do is fight them after any hit whatsoever. They won't be hitting much in the playoffs.

Does anybody have a link to a respected NHL analyst who rates Holl as a poor player? Just looking for a more objective (or perhaps less emotional is a better phrase) viewpoint on him.

They have been hired for entertainment purposes only, mostly to share stories and give personal/character insight on players/management that are still in the league

I think Holl is better than a lot of people on here give him credit for but I also don't have as high of an opinion of him as Keefe obviously does

I don’t think I know enough to truly analyze a player’s abilities so I don’t. That’s why you’ll almost never see me comment on actual play. I wish more fans took that approach.

And I didn’t just mean TV analysts, but also journalists, bloggers, fans with respected opinions, etc. Mainly, I was looking for looking for voices from outside of the echo chamber of these boards, because to me, Holl doesn‘t seem that bad and I’m not entirely convinced that the whole “Holl is terrible” thing on here isn’t just online mob mentality.

I’m more likely to comment on the business aspects of the game. I’m much more confident of my knowledge and understanding in that area.

Interesting. To me, the educated stuff largely gets drowned out by the noise of ridiculous hot takes and over the top reactions from people who seem to know a lot less than they think they do.
