Who cares , op? I’m wondering what Matthews likes to eat for breakfast. Don’t think we’ve had that thread yet
He's on pace for right around 50 goals and 90 points but your right never again.
I mean ovechkin put up 50 goals and 109 points when he missed 10 games but Matthews misses 8 games and he may be lucky to hit 80?
your compadre doesn't like that there are some things Matthews does that mcdavid can't so hes trying to take him down a peg. Why?
oh I must of forgot Matthews 90 point seasons...oh wait he hasn't broken 70 yet? I must of forgot who was tied with Kucherov for the league lead in goals too.hasn't sniffed 90 points in like 7 years? probably never will again.
32 years old.... declining player now.
He never said that but its funny how he gets ahead of guys like Benn who have already won the Art Ross. The difference is that McDavid has already been that guy that led the league in points. These are all guys that have been consistently near the top of the league in points for years.Lol at the start of the year when he was tearing up the league all these oilers fans blood boiled, that he was even mentioned with McDavid, by many hockey analysts mind you.
Now Matthews is out for 10 games, and obviously his point and goal totals drop as a result, and he’s some scrub all of a sudden.

yesWhy is Auston Matthews considered a top-ten, even top-five player already? Obviously he had an incredible rookie season, but having him rated above guys like Stamkos, Schiefele, etc is unjustified imo. I will name all the forwards I think are better than him.
(In no order)
McDavid C
Stamkos C
Kucherov W
Crosby C
Malkin C
Ovechkin W
Tarasenko W
Tavares C
Benn W
Backstrom C
Kane W
Gaudreau W
Schiefele C
Just of the top of my head. In the future Matthews could pass most of these guys, but why is he already considered so great? Toronto Bias?

Does anyone credible say Matthews is better than Stamkos or Kucherov?
If not, who cares what random fans on a web site think?
Kucherov is on another planet this year. Scoring is all over the place . Josh Bailey has more points than everyone else in the league but Kucherov.
I know people are trying to push their anti-Leaf agendas, and yes Matthews isn't a top 5 player but he is definitely with the group of guys around top 10. He does so much more than every other Leaf player every game that he is over sensationalized by fans, yes. Watching him in a game though you can see it with an unbiased view that he controls every shift he plays
Josh Bailey has more points than Crosby,Stamkos, Tavares............... Mcdavid. Halfway thru the season none the less. Too many hot takes on every player. Interesting year that is much better to witness without petty grudges
all things considered, contract and age, there are only 2 or 3.Here's an idea.
Try to turn off your Leaf hate for one game.
Then watch him play for a game and see how he plays and what he does every shift.
Then look at the list that the OP made and ask yourself how many of those guys can do what Matthews does.
I'm not saying he's better than all of them but I can say, with confidence, that he does some things as well as (often better than) a lot of them.
Then ask yourself which player you'd rather have on the team you love...player from the list or AM.
Again, not all of them but more than the OP suggested.
