Why have the Leafs stopped drafting Canadian players since 2018?

Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. IMO European drafted players are less of a sure thing & more likely to be overlooked.
I'd expect the Leafs to have a higher scouting budget so they can draft those oversees more heavily. They're basically trying to pick the best player available who other teams may have missed/passed on.
Time will tell but I think they've done a great job the past few years.
