Why have the Leafs stopped drafting Canadian players since 2018?

IMO European drafted players are less of a sure thing & more likely to be overlooked.

I'd expect the Leafs to have a higher scouting budget so they can draft those oversees more heavily. They're basically trying to pick the best player available who other teams may have missed/passed on.

Time will tell but I think they've done a great job the past few years.
