Nah. Hughes works, nicknames are cool too.
Using first names for athletes you don't know personally is weird
A lot of teenage boys are cocky, smug, douchebags without being superstar athletes or anything even remotely notable for that matter. A little arrogance for a kid in his situation is normal and nothing to be concerned about. He will grow out of it.I am a nothing. Hughes is a young multi-millionare, superstar, professional athlete. I get that.
I don't like the Devils- but am mature enough to look at players beyond the jersey they wear.
My first girlfriend's family had Devil's season tix in the late 80's/early 90's. I was forced to like them to an extent. (I even had to help her judge who was the "hottest" guy on the Club. Good God what I did for that girl...)
Muller, Albelin, Shanahan, Dougie Brown..lot's of guys to like/respect..
So, no. There is just something that bothers me. Have never felt this with Hischier. Love the kid.
Something is off and I want to know if anyone else feels the same.
I am being 100% honest in my question in regards to how Hughes comes across. Probably is just maturity. Guys like Crosby and Kane have changed remarkably as they got older. Hughes is no doubt a good kid. Just asking what is it that bothers me.
If I didn't know who Connor McDavid was, saw the left photograph uncaptioned and had to guess the backstory, it would be:
Feral teenager is rescued from the jungle, cleaned, given a haircut, and adopted by a middle-aged American couple. Still adjusting to wearing clothes.
Its probably because hes as close to what every parent dreams heir 18 year old boy becomes lmaoYes OP, I also find Jack Hughes very hard to like. (Seriously) I don't really know why either, although I wouldn't say he comes off as smug.
That's gold Jerry....GOLD.And what's the deal with Ovaltine?
A lot of people are poo pooing on the OP, but as a Devils fan I get what he’s saying. Hughes definitely has some cockiness, smugness, and arrogance in the way he carries himself...but at the same time he’s respectful, says all the right things, and seems genuine when he speaks. It’s a weird mix, but it works for him.[/QUOTE
Thank you for understanding. I don't dislike him. I am simply trying to ask if others thought that there was "something" about off with his demeanor, maybe the way he speaks... Has nothing to do with being a Devil.
He will he great and I will appreciate what he does in the ice. I expect he will grow into a very good man. Probably captain of the team and possibly winning hardware for Team USA.
Thx again for those that took a minute to consider what I was asking.
I will gladly start a similar thread about Lundqvist...a guy that Ranger fans adore, but do not have a deep emotional attachment. He is a good man, and we saw glimpses of his heart when interviewed after playing first game after Mats Such was traded...a very restrained, private guy...
Thx again to those that took thus seriously
This is one of the most messed up things I've ever read onlineProbably because proper Mashed Potatoes needs a $100 shaving of white truffle on top to maximize the flavor.
Its probably because hes as close to what every parent dreams heir 18 year old boy becomes lmao
Id let him date my daughter
