Why does everyone hate Ryan Kesler?

I know he has a bit of a mean streak but I happen to find him a very likeable player. He plays the game as hard as anyone and he always takes the toughest matchups each night, and can shut down any line in the league.

I see a lot of people say Thornton needs a cup, or Ovechkin. Which seems very odd to me. You hate Kesler and then support a complete d bag and the biggest ******* in the league in Ovechkin. You people are so hypocritical. :shakehead

I love players like Kesler. He's an extremely effective pest and a great defensive player.

He's one of those guys you love on your team, and hate when you play him.

He plays on the line, dives, makes his stupid face, and pisses off stars.

That post escalated quickly.

People hate Kesler because he follows their team's best players around agitating and throwing little cheapshots at them. It's not hard to understand.

Pretty much. He dives, whines, talks ****, only seems to fight weaker players, is subtly dirty, that nose.

First, explain how Ovechkin is 'a complete d bag and the biggest ******* in the league', please.

Kesler is a punk. He does his act effectively and happens to be a really good player. But he has a track record of being dirty and picking his spots against small and/or vulnerable opponents.

Ovechkin and Thornton are the best scorer and passer respectively of their generation. They are both incredibly fun to watch and have been top producers for over a decade. Their personality quirks, which I think you are grossly overstating, are more easily forgotten because of their unique talent.

because he's a pest and he tries to irritate the opponent's best line

a little like Neil was doing in his prime with the SENS :naughty:
(and no I'm not comparing Neil's talent to Kesler's... the later one being far superior on the ice)

He's a rat and I'll be glad to see Thornton retire cupless

Because he says stupid, arrogant **** like 'No human being can withstand that many hits' then loses while said human being skates off to win the Conn Smythe.

I remember in Calgary he scored in a shootout and then proceeded to "hush" the crowd... Anaheim lost that shootout
