Why do 4 NHL arenas have a solid red center line when the rulebook says it is not allowed?

I think it would be interesting if this was done away with, allowing some teams to opt to play on Olympic size ice. Would add an interesting dynamic to home ice advantages, and create a more diverse on ice product.

I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.

There are a few teams that could actually do that right now. I do not know which ones but I know my team (Blues) have an Olympic size ice floor. They would lose a few rows of seats on the sides but that wouldn't be so bad.

Up until about a month ago it was illegal to challenge someone to duel and fraudulently pretend to practise witchcraft in Canada. A lot of obsolete rules/laws have lasted a long time because no one gives a ****.

Does "fraudulently pretend" mean to actually practice witchcraft? Just wondering because I've been pretending to practice witchcraft for years and I really don't want to go to jail.

I actually think teams should be able to add a design if they feel like it. I remember liking the blue lines during the all star game last year.

Remember this?

defense is just as much a part of the game as offense. all they had to do was not give up a TD

same way in hockey OT if a team wins the face off, and scores right away the other team doesnt get a chance to match it

I want to steer this back to being OT but

I am obviously a Pats fan and I believe BOTH teams should get the ball in an OT.

Upton Bell is the son of the NFL Commissioner Bert Bell who came up with the concept of first team scoring in OT wins. He wrote that the policy was formed in TWO MINUTES after the Colts and Giants were tied after 60 minutes in the NFL Championship game in 1958. Players on both teams thought they were co-champions but NBC wanted an outcome.

Well, I suppose the blue dot in the center does make it a regularly patterned line. Nice catch tho @Fenway. This is some high quality nitty gritty stuff.
