Why are the Ducks of Anaheim so hated on Hockey's Future?

Ducks are so dirty, they don’t even have a game misconduct or instigator this season.

The cogliano suspension (which was hilarious) was the worst thing anyone has done all year.

All the penalties they take are slashing and hooking.

Our goalies have gotten run over more this year than I’ve ever seen, yet the team has yet to punish any opponent for this.

The hate likely comes from 2007 when the ducks were legit dirty, and beat up Detroit, and stole canada’s cup away from Ottawa.

There's a difference between headshot-dirty and constantly-hooking/slashing-dirty. The ducks being so high in PIM without any game misconducts or instigators only supports my gripe with the way Carlisle is having them "play"

I've never seen so much hate and salt from neutral fans toward a non rival team. Go into any GDT on the mainboards when the Ducks are playing and you will find people incessantly *****ing about the team.

I don't really understand it? They are led by one of the more likeable and underrated players in the league in Ryan Getzlaf. Perry can be annoying but I don't see people *****ing about Boston or Calgary (Marchand Tkachuk) all the time here.

What is it?

If you can't see why for yourself, you wouldn't understand any of the reasons people would give...

tell us more
Congrats on your team being really fast, but tell us more about complexes.

I was waiting for this
Tell us more about how you feel. Sure feels like someone in this thread has "victim complex", but it doesn't look like you're a Ducks fan ..

Where does my complex show itself? I'm a happy avs fan. Regardless of what happens this last week I'm still high from the season the avs have had. We turtled and deservedly lost to the ducks recently, but that's not the reason why I've been annoyed by your team every time I've watched you play this season. And it sure as hell wasn't the reason why I talked shit about them during the last GDT when avs were able to seal the deal in anaheim :dunno:

Yet here we have three of you guys...trying to be clever? I mean I'm an avs fan, I love Gabe but he's crossed the line before. I didn't just blindly defend him in those cases. So I know that it is physically possible for you lot to not be this way.

Yeah, the difference being one is dirty and the other is just clearly under your skin.

I'm confused. Headshot are much more repulsive & inexcusable than constantly breaking the rules that are meant only to allow play to occur. So...what are you trying to say? I must not understand this american humor.

5 posts in this thread alone. Congrats on proving the OP's point. lol

How does the fact that I'm talking about anaheim in the anaheim thread prove I don't also talk about Boston in Boston threads, or Tkachuk in Tkachuk threads?

I know this is the country that elected trump, but I'd like to hope that at HF we might have slightly higher standards for proof than does the 4-year-old-in-chief.

I'm saying headshots and incidents of that nature are actually dirty, but the Ducks aren't any more penalized for that type of major incident than your own team. The hooking/slashing minors you're complaining about are nothing more than chippy hockey and kind of a sad reason to have such a hate on.

Also I'm not sure how I would have developed an American sense of humor living my entire life in Canada, TV I guess :P

In the last decade+ weve been a playoff mainstay, and played a lot of diff teams. Pretty much any series involving anaheim has been a fairly physical/chippy series... so its very easy to kinda have a dislike for them.

We also basically steam rolled western canada over that time.

Kings also get a similar rep id say on the boards, more of a socal thing

I've come across "nhl wants Hollywood in the playoffs" and the kings "villains" post a lot this season and it's kinda funny cos that was years ago, the old Kings. People still think Kings are a "heavy hitting" team which is far from true. I guess people are just up to date.

And for the Ducks hate, I still think Kesler is a punk bitch and the hate that kings fans have for him started from his Canuck days where he was flopping and diving during the playoffs. Perry is a dick no doubt about that and his constant "crashing" into Quick is annoying and since Quick is a hot head they always butt heads though funny enough Quick didn't take the bait last game, maybe he has finally had enough.

And Manson has a punchable face.

Ok, if that's how you view it, then I can at least see where you're coming from. Lets find another word than dirty. Cause to me one is dangerous while the other is dirty, that's why I separate rules meant to protect players (like from headshots) and rules meant to protect the play (like hooking / tripping / slashing ). we watch hockey to watch the amazing passes that MacK or Getzlaf can sling around, not to watch Gabriel Bourque slashing those players that have actual talent before they can use that talent. So being penalized a lot for violating the rules that protect play without violating the rules the protect players is not a defense from accusations of dirtiness to many of us.

PS you say that as though there's a difference, North Americans are North Americans. You all love guns & dental hygiene and hate wit :sarcasm:

The Ducks aren't relevant to the Rangers and don't tip the scales for me either way.

I've had it out with their fans for awhile but I made some mistakes and I've buried my hatchet. Fowler is having a solid year.

Before I moved to the right coast from the left coast I watched the Ducks very closely. One of the main problems with the Ducks is their consistency. They had a problem playing a full 60 minutes a night as they always coasted/floated through games. Oddly enough this was one of the knocks against Getzlaf before he was drafted.

Right now they’re older and slower compared to the rest of the NHL but their lack of consistency has been a characteristic of the Ducks in the last five or so years.

Thats not really a quick thing hes done that to every goalie throughout his career, there is an interview where getzlaf makes fun of him for it

And FWIW I do like Corey Perry. He's a little shit, but that adds flavor to the game and the forum.

I'm also a Marchand fan.

Hey the machinehead vs fowler threads were great
I thought so

Yes, HF annoys me, but so does my dad. If I didn't have fun here I wouldn't have as many posts as I do.

Just hope I didn't legitimately offend anyone. We're all just here to talk hockey.

I like the Ducks, they and Nashville are probably my 2 favorite western teams. I feel like the "salt" you might be talking about is coming from Oilers fans, since there are a bunch of Oilers fans on this site.

Its a weird question from a fan of a team with Kesler on it.

Add Bieksa, Perry and Getzlaf to go along with borderline often dirty (chippy as duck fans call it) play.

The team has earned a reputation from 2007 till now. Whether its fair or not would be a better question imo then the op
