Why are Boston Bruins the most hated team throughout the NHL?

Yeah it's the Leafs. Everyone who isn't a Leaf fan, hates them. Go anywhere in Canada and even non-hockey fans will tell you "Leafs suck".

Except when the Leafs play in the other six Canada arenas. Half the fans are Leaf fans. "Local" fans of their teams can't even be bothered to buy tickets. Sure the Leaf have more haters, but appears there is a really small fan base for the other six Canadian teams

LOL as a fan of the franchise with the richest history in all of hockey, I don't want to be you for sure. :biglaugh:
I was actually talking about this with someone recently. When Tavares played his first game in Long Island I saw a sign saying "We don't need you" with 4 stanley cup pictures on it. The guy holding it looked younger than me and all I could think was "Is cups before you were born a smart brag against the leafs?" The Habs are the only team in the league who win that one against us.

Actually those fans sell their tickets to Leaf fans. I can't blame them because season tickets are expensive and making a bit of money back on certain big games isn't a bad idea.

Nah, we buy them and sell them to you to cover the price of all 5 games we attend that year.

I got 900 bucks each for my two leafs oil tickets this year.

^_^

Can't talk for the other Canadian teams but there are a lot of Habs fans anywhere they play as well. Ottawa looks like Bell Centre each time the Habs play there.

As a Bruins fan, I'd argue there's a good chance they are. Definitely in the top 5 disliked. I'd put Montreal in there being they are the NY Yankees of hockey. Maybe Chicago because this decades success. Toronto because of the fanbase penciling in future cups/thinking it's a birthright. Detroit? for the history.....Carolina moving up because of the surge.

1) Boston sports as a whole is hated....although the Bruins winning....not so much. For the record, I don't like any other team in Boston and would happily trade all their championships for 3 or 4 more Cups.

2) Marchand. Look, Even I think he's too much sometimes.

3) Historically, Boston has always played a certain way that does not make it easy to face them. That said, I don't think every recent version of the Bruins has been as gritty as say, this year's club or the 2011 team. Same thing goes for the Flyers historically.

Edit: Forgot Pittsburgh. Yeah, they are still the most hated I'd say.
It's amusing that you would identify our fans as the problem (obnoxiously) and yet not considered it might be a factor for your own. Irony is strong on HF.

You're right, the last time you won the Cup was even before the first expansion, that is a one hell of story. But still not comparable to the Montreal Canadiens ones.
Nothing quite like an 80 year old man telling a 90 year old man he is washed up. Digging deep for wins there. It's almost tragic.

Hey when some Leafs fans try to compare the Toronto Maple Leafs history to the Montreal Canadiens one, every argument is a good one especially the Stanley Cups.

I'm a leafs fan so I have my reasons to hate them. The only non rival I actually couldnt stand was probably the Canucks 2009-2013.
