Who would the Kings be interested in from NY if that's the case?

I'd say there are quite a few Rangers who'd be good on this roster. Itd take more than Kempe to land one though thats for sure. And I only say Kempe because of his time in Ontario and how much the Rangers have been scouting Ontario, but they could be looking at Martinez they could be looking at King who knows.

Haha. So guessing you need RD as well? I could see NYR trading either Kevin Klein or Adam Clendening, But it would be for a younger RD or a move that would allow us to trade a good forward for a good RD.
Reading about Ladue, he sounds like a player the NYR like. US born, midwestern that played USHL, then collage, that plays a two way game.

Not really. The Kings need to keep their youth.

Why is no one mentioning the two CBJ scouts, that would be the real cup winning trade.

Rangers fan here,
I think the NYR are looking at LaDue. He fills a big need for the Rangers.
What are the Kings looking for?

I forgot where I read it (could have been Rosen the Kings beat writer or Mayor's Manner) that teams were calling on LaDue and Lombardi told them that he is untouchable. And Lombardi doesn't say that often (only players I can remember Toffoli and LaDue). So the trade wouldn't be about LaDue.

Another Rangers fan here, and just re-posting what another fan said on our boards: Kempe and Ladue would be the obvious two guesses (even though I know Ladue is untouchable). He brought up an interesting point about looking at Brodzkinski. Greeley was with you guys when you drafted him, and the Rangers like kids that go the college route.

Another one that's being speculated is something around a retained Nash for Martinez+

My personal guess is Pirri to you guys for something, but idk what. Pirri fits the volume shooting to a tee, and he can score from all over the ice. You guys would be good at getting traffic near the net and opening up space for him to be particularly dangerous.

My guess is that teams are looking at Martinez, because he's been playing the right side. Unfortunately he hasn't been playing great lately. Teams looking to add for the playoffs, Martinez makes a lot of sense.

Nash retained at 50% ($3.9 million cap hit for you guys) and Pirri for Martinez and Brodznsky is my guess. Before you Kings fans throw stewed tomatoes and tar and feather me, here's the logic;

Nash can still shoot but has lost his puck protection skills. You put that with Kopitar and he can basically be a better version of Michael Ryder + excellent defense and PK.

Kings probably will not protect Martinez so this frees up space for them by a mere 100K next year, but the three additional years to resign your RFAs. Rangers need mobile D that can pass.

Greeley was with you guys when Brodz was picked, Rangers love Minny NCAA kids, Rangers need close to ready 2nd-3rd liners because their farm system besides goaltending and a little D is pretty barren now and they need 3-4 guys to fill the gaps while they restock.

Martinez makes a ton of sense but it seems like the Rangers d is set. They have guys they can't wait to get rid of in Girardi, Klein and Staal and guys they love like Skjei, McDonagh. I'd hope if they moved Martinez to the Rangers we could land Skjei+. Or Martinez + for one of Miller, Hayes, Kreider or Stephan. Pipe dream I know. I just don't know how they'd land Martinez without sending cap back, and the last thing the Kings need is another 32 year old in Nash.

The idea that the Kings won't protect Martinez already shoots down your theory.

Kings are likely to go 4-4 in the expansion draft.

Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Forbort, Muzzin and Martinez.

Kings are looking at the long term. Not rentals. Pirri is a pending UFA. Nash at 3.9M is nice, but he's 32 and signed for just one year after this. LA would have no interest.
