Riley Kidney.

Everyone is disrespecting his stellar junior numbers, and he's the poster boy for good-junior-who-won't-make-pro, but I think you are all dead, dead wrong. I don't think he's elite or anything like this, but I think he could turn into a very honest middle-6 center.

None of those guys will make it but Heineman didn't look out of place last year in pre-season. He did great to end the season in Laval though and was a prolific scorer as a junior. I think I would rather try to develop him into a top 6 guy than give him a bottom 6 role with the big club like we did with Lehkonen.

Question, why is it every time I try and answer one of these surveys as soon as I click on a selection I am whisked away to an advertisement? My answer is not recorded.

Yeah I get it as well... the good news is that it means I'm on here a lot less!! But still don't know why...

Surprise/impress?

Impress:

Heineman is who I think is likely the more ready/interesting prospect in front at the moment. Best case 2nd line winger in due time, could be tried on the 3rd next season with injuries but he won't start as there are too many forwards. I feel he'll be at minimum an offensive 3rd liner with better offensive upside than Lehky. He can play though, he's proven it and he just need more seasoning to be ready but he's darn close. In the meantime Ylonen is being displayed and will be traded in some package.

Andersen may break out as a 3rd line center as he's been doing well lately but I'd rather have him 1st line in Laval and feed/tutor the kids (Roy, Mesar, Heineman, Slaf?). We don't have a spot nor a need for him in the NHL at the moment. He might impress. Sometimes it juste takes some time to put it all together especialy an euro center... still, not the future of the team but may make trading Devo at tdl bearable.

Beck is that dream 3rd line center we hope he'll be. We all would like to see him take the 3rd in laval this season but it is what it is and there is no need to rush him. I like this guy a lot. Patience is key but I want him to wow us and show the progress he made.

Surprise:

Engstrom will assuredly open some eyes. I'm eager to see his game on small ice. Him and Reinbacher...

Roy and Kidney:

I wanna see how they fare with bigger/faster. Especially Roy. Kidney may surprise quite a bit as he's progressing nicely and is a center. Laval will be fun to see play this season.

??? I hope Mesar does better with better players. I'm not sure if he'll make it but I'm rooting for the guy just cause I like his smiling mug. :) eh, it takes a wildcard...

Dear Gawd I wish we could arrange to move Beck from Peterborough this season. He's got more offensive upside I'd love to see exploited.
I'm starting to think, with Dvorak out to start the season, endplay less structured and physical early on, Montreal could keep Beck up 11 games, burn a year off his ELC and send him to Laval for the rest of the season.

For one, it gives him a concrete reference point (more than just one game, like last season) as to what he needs toward on.

Secondly, it enables him to continue developing in the AHL and be closer to Nicolas to keep improving his skill set.

I think he would still be going to the OHL if sent down or wouldn't this be considered some sort of loophole in the system?

From our player development side "Beck is knocking at the door" and they expect a big camp out of him. Heineman is also a player who has demonstrated he can play the NHL game. I haven't liked our camps for a number of seasons now and I'll give last year a mulligan because of the lack of prep time. There will be very few if any raw rookies make the team up front unless we move some players. Having said that I hope we make quicker decisions on the heirarchy than we have in the past and play the Lads at their proper levels. Play the top prospects with NHL guys while limiting the lesser guys to mostly AHL players.
There seemed to be a ton of mismatched pairings and line makeups last year which accomplished not much of anything from what I saw. A more cohesive approach would be welcomed.

it’s Wawa for me. Looked amazing twice at the juniors with Bedard, better than anybody else. With talented and fast line mates he will be a wonderful playmaker, I have no doubt. Also proved in that tourney he can play the PK effectively. We’ll see how well that translates but his lack of speed isn’t a concern to me
