NJD at their best win the division.

Buffalo at their best squeak into the playoffs.

Buffalo at their best probably doesn't even do that, I don't think 5th in the Atlantic is good enough to make the playoffs and to me that is the absolute BEST they can hope for.

Even if they got 5th the NYR, NJ, Carolina, Washington and the NYI are all better than Buffalo, maybe Pittsburgh too.

And to be honest I'm not sure Ottawa and Detroit aren't either.

Ottawa actually did things that matter.

Detroit made some odd moves but they are arguably better up front with Tarasenko.

I think it's entirely possible Buffalo finishes as low as 7th.

I can't see them finishing below Montreal but that's it.

Eagerly awaiting Buffalo sweeping the Prague games and having people file in here to proclaim how quickly the worm has turned.

I think NJ improved more this off season than the Sabres. But they haven't been as far apart as this thread would have you believe. Even with the devils monster 112 point season and the Sabres awful 37 point season they are quite close over the last 5.

Issue is the 112 for Jersey was the first year they broke out of the rebuild; injuries and goaltending derailing that doesnt change their rebuild has been over for two years now

The injury bug hits everyone but odds are it wont be that bad again - and they bolstered their depth a bit (f*** McLeod)

Jersey dominated the Avs team at home in 2022, especially in the 3rd period(I would I'd say that Avs team is probably the best team of the last ten years as well), and all those top players are better now, since then they took out NYR and then had an off season, largely due to injuries. Remember, they started out on fire. Jack Hughes was leading the NHL in scoring and although I don't see him scoring 140 lsat year if healthy, I think he'd have easily been in the 110 range. That ruined their momentum and they never recovered. It's NJD, and it's not even close.

It was such a weird year for him because he like inexplicably started to suck out of nowhere after the Vancouver game at the start of December. Like he had 20 pts in the first 9 games. Got injured a few shifts into his 10th game. Came back a couple weeks later and was still basically the same guy putting up 13 pts in 8 games. Then after that Vancouver game he only had 12 pts in 14 games for a month before he got injured in the Chicago game right after the New Year. Came back from that a month later and had 29 pts in 30 games. He went from 33 pts in 17 game to 41 in 44 but it's hard to just pinpoint it down to solely being the injury since he had a dominant stretch following the injury and then just dipped down seemingly randomly

He must have been fine coming back from the first injury but then tweaked something around the Vancouver game because it wasn't even just the production. He visually looked pretty bad out there too from that point to the end of the year

Dahlin is useless as a defender. I mean the clue is in the name. His job is to defend and he's not doing that effectively.
I find that incredibly inaccurate while not perfect he improved immensely he still can get better with his perception of what lanes are open and going to be used but he is till effective defensively
