So today we found out that Seguin is injured (minor knee injury) and wont play the rest of the tourney

It has been confirmed by TSN that Ryan O'Reilly will replace him. http://www.tsn.ca/seguin-out-o-reilly-in-for-canada-at-world-cup-1.566419

Some commentators brought up Wayne Simmonds as a possible replacement. A choice i would personally agreed with with how intense and physical the games have been. Ryan O'Reilly isnt a bad choice but there already are many centerman that have been shifted to the wing on team canada. That being said who would you choose to replace seguin?

O'Reilly earned it after back to back gold medals at the World's.

Thought he should have been on the original roster.

Should have been Taylor Hall. He is one of the best even strength forwards in the world, certainly one of the best LWs, and we have like 19 centers on the team already. Hall also adds a lot more speed and could play the #1 line. O' Reilly is what, 13th forward? Hall's career numbers in short tournaments and playoffs are outstanding and he produces more consistently than a lot of players already at the tournament.

Something fishy IMO.

didnt catch much of ROR while he was with Col but had the chance to more often during his first year as a Sabre.

the kid can flat out play .

ROR wasn't chosen to be a top 6 stud. All those positions are already filled by better players than anyone still available. He was brought in to play on the 4th line and kill penalties. I don't see why anyone would question choosing him to fill that role.

O'Reilly is a much better player than Hall IMO. Hall is a 1-way offense-first kinda guy who is pretty damn mediocre defensively. Junior playoff points mean nothing. I'd take ROR on the wing 10/10 times over Hall. Nothing fishy, just good common sense.

Hall is comically overrated on these boards by some. One of the best even strength forwards in the world? Give me a break.

There are only maybe four players I would consider, depending on what the coaches wanted. If they wanted a RW to replace Seguin's scoring and another quality right handed shot, I would pick Toffoli. If they wanted the best RW available, I would select Stone. If they wanted the best offensive forward available who can play wing, I would select Hall. If they want someone who can play wing, contribute defensively and has chemistry with some players on the team, O'Reilly makes sense. I think MacKinnon would have had a shot if eligible, since he could have played RW and replaced Seguin's speed and shot.

I like that O'Reilly was rewarded, and for this team he makes sense. O'Reilly played wing with Duchene for most of an NHL season before, so he is comfortable in that role. He adds elite defensive play from a forward, and almost no chance of penalties. In addition to having played with Duchene in Colorado, O'Reilly also successfully combined with Giroux on a dominant line at the 2015 WC. Good pick overall.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH

:'( sigh.

O'Reilly is the smart but boring pick

When I heard Simmonds name get mentioned I got intrigued. Just because the Americans are playing like ass hats

I would have picked O'Rielly over Thornton to begin with and picked Simmonds to replace Seguin

Marchand Crosby Bergeron
Couture Toews Stamkos
Tavares Getzlaf Perry
Duchene O'Rielly Simmonds/Giroux
