Not sure why everyone is so hell bent on trading the pick just to 'trade'. It only makes sense to trade if you can get a top NHL player who is still young (26 or under).

If not, sorry Larkin. Go cry more. The long term health of the club takes priority over your 'feelings'.
Again, I have entered an alternate universe where I am mostly agreeing with Dotter. What a long, strange trip it's been on HF Boards.

What do people think about Carter Bear, is he a center or do you see him playing on the wing? Feels a bit like MBN last season, as he may be a winger who goes to the high danger areas to shoot and has a good motor and can win puck battles along the boards. Also sounds like the type of player Yzerman said he wants to add to the roster during his end of season press conference.

Jackson Smith makes more sense on paper. He fills a team need. We already have MBN.

I've been Carbonneau mocked to the Wings a decent amount. Seems very similar to MBN in a lot of ways. Which I definitely don't hate, but not sure I love.
I don’t view Carbonneau and MBN as the same player, but I could see why others would.

I think Carbonneau has more upside but probably not as good of a floor. I think he has more high end qualities in his game but also more holes.

I think taking a shot on Bear is making more and more sense. I could see him being like a meaner version of Brayden Schenn.

You think he's meaner than Schenn?

Bear is the exact type that fits into what the wings have been drafting while still having upside. He makes a tonne of sense

Literally what are you talking about?

I can say that adding depth to the team in 23/24 at the deadline would have gottten us a an extra point and we would have made the playoffs.

Instead Yzerman did nothing.
Thought you were saying we should have made a deal this year because we were so close last year. So you are complaining about last years deadline or this year's?

They might be pretty 1:1, for some reason I think of his brother as being more of that guy.

Winger for sure in my eyes. People understate his technical skill because he is a pretty aggressive, hard-nosed kid.

I am with you. I think Carbonneau transports the puck better and moves laterally with the puck better. I think that gives him a bit more upside potentially. I can see him having more variety to his scoring if that makes sense. The lack of maturity in his game (or perhaps hockey IQ), however, certainly gives him a lower floor in relation to MBN. I do think they both have a nice physical element to their games that any organization can use. I like Carbonneau a lot, but I am not going to act like he doesn't come with some true, all-out bust risk.

I'm likely way off, but I'm going to continue to push Reschny as a wild card pick at #13 if the board falls a certain way.
Just a guess/hunch here, but I feel like they would be higher on Cootes.

Kid was the #1 center for Canada at the U18s and from what I heard would have been at the Hlinka as well if not for injury. Great skater. They might see some Larkin in him.

So who's the equivalent to Cleveland this draft?

This team still has so many holes, it's BPA. I have no idea who that would be, lol. Bear sounds good.
Who’s a 6’5 Dman we’ll all complain about a year later? Lol no clue

THis draft is meh who knows if the best player for us will be like there at 13 over say 25. Maybe the better move is trading back for flyers 1sts package the 44 and 3rds to move up again 10ish spots and end up with 3 of Wozniak fiddler nesbitt horcoff Moore klingsell ekberg. Who knows

I don’t know the answer, my #1 move would be trading it for a 23-25 yr old that can be a part of our team longterm if teams don’t want to give up a player like that I’m agressive and looking to move up from 13 to 7-9 if we can land a Martin,O’Brien etc.. if it’s someone we really value high and say on the wings list he’s #3 or 4 but he’s available at 8/9 .... just be agressive and try and make it happen

And if that fails yet again depending who’s there at 13 I wouldn’t hate moving back. This is the first draft in a long time where I don’t have a clear cut guy I want us to draft and I’d be up for many scenarios

Edvinsson 100% is a top pairing guy right now. If he got PP time he'd put up more points, but he put up the most even strength goals amongst all d-men 21 or younger when the season started. His advanced Fenwick rel stats are top 10 in the league.

If we can add Gavrikov this summer we will be in the conversation for the best defense in the league.

You would get laughed off the main board is your said that there. Ed is a top pairing guy and if Detroit got Gavrikov we would have one of the best defenses in the league.

The team that finished 20th in goals against and dead last in the league on the PK is Gavrikov away from having one of the best defenses in the league.

You are delusional, is that you Steve Yzerman?

Maybe he is assuming adding ASP also would be Makar lite as well?

Dude I wish I knew! That's why I'm so sad! It's like we are just f***ed!!!
I think this too right now and I'm feeling blue about the Wings but I'm hoping for something like the Tigers just pulled off.

I didn't think they'd be good let alone maybe the best pitching in all of baseball! Not to mention a couple players totally turning it around. It'd be like Compher returning to a pure 25 goal scorer and Copp switching positions onto defense and being a quality top 4 defender on defense, lol.

Just sitting back and seeing what happens. Idk if i'll pay attention like I did the last two years till I see some results like the Tigers/Pistons. I don't even watch basketball really and it was 'fun' to watch that Knicks first round.

As far as the draft; who cares.

This is probably a great approach to take. Lower the investment level a bit and just see what happens.

I got a passive aggressive LOL from @taliababa who hides his/her profile, so I’ve got that going for me.
