They played very well for almost 40 minutes. Two mistakes late in the second put them behind the 8 ball and gave Carolina the momentum for the third. They need more finish. But if they play the way they did in the first, especially, but convert a chance or two, they’ll win more than they lose.

And the missed high stick on Ovie. A 4-minute PP could have changed the tenor early. But still, Caps had chances before Willy was hit and they didn’t finish.

This. I watched that first and really felt that the Caps are the better of these two teams overall. They can shut down Carolina’s attack. But if they cannot score it doesn’t matter.

Not sure how I feel about Carbery saying it's not the makeup of this team to come back from being down. I mean I get him wanting the team to come out like gangbusters, but at the same time this was one of the highest scoring teams in the league and was known for coming back. Maybe different with Fever out and Protas not his normal self. but feel like that lends to them deflating if Carolina scores early (as they did in the last game).

Well that'll pretty much do it for the season. Slim to no chance we win three in a row against this team. Been a fun year but what a total fall on your face failure the payoff were. Whatever this coaching staff was doing got figured out about 3/4 of the way into the season and we haven't been able to score since.

Caps need to change up the lines a bit. The current configuration just isn't working. Our defense needs to be more engaged on the offense. Losing Fever really messed up our pairings, but we need to find a way to get better transitions and pinches. I'm not a big fan of Bear, but maybe it's time to give him a try over Alexeyev.

The top two lines need to be juggled as well. Strome is having a tough time and hasn't created many chances for Ovie. Dubois has struggled to generate offense as well; maybe consider swapping them or swapping wingers. Gotta try something different.
