Who Would You take with the 13OA Pick?

Which one of those guys actually projects to be a top 4 pairing guy or even a top pairing guy. I see none on that list that do.
Also Tuomisto, Johansson and Cleveland are right shot defensemen. We need LD.
Time will of course tell but I'm not optimistic about them

Well theyve got 2 top pairing D 24 or younger with another prospect that definitely projects to be a top 3-4 dman. So if youre getting into the "secondary" type prospects, if you have a couple potential top 4 guys youre doing pretty good.

I think Johansson and Wallinder could play in the top 4 some day and both definitely project as NHLers. Boom just had a pretty good year too. Theyre solid for guys the D pool arent really relying on

Outside of Wallinder, I’d be pretty surprised to see any one of those other guys ever play more than a handful of games for us.

Johanssen has the skating and size to be a third pairing guy. Buium needs to improve his skating like Toumisto for me. It is what holds them back, lots of IQ with both guys but I think they look like Holl in terms of skating issues.

I still like Wallinder a lot, I really hope we get to see him next year and he can be a#4/5 for this team.

Maybe, he at the minimum hasn’t shown us he’s not that great like the others have.

Buium I think could maybe get there you’re right, but he’s got some major power skating lessons to take

I agree with everything he said. If we stay at 13 I’ll be pissed. We accumulated a bunch of prospects already . I’d try and trade it at this point , if not move the 2026 pick top 10 protected and be agressive with this year’s pick as well and move up 4-5 spots if you want someone you really like

Pittsburgh has no pipeline I’m sure Dubas would drop back 4 spots for a 2nd and Berggren type player. Too many old men in Pittsburgh

If no one worth trading comes along for that 1st rd pick (we shouldn’t be adding someone 30+ or has like 2-3 yrs left before they turn Ufa) and if no one wants to accept a trade to move up I also wouldn’t hate moving back for the Flyers picks and getting like a fiddler nesbitt zharovsky , boudamienne(however you spell it) with those 2 picks and moving those 3rds to move up from 44 to get a Wozniak

With all due respect to Edvinsson he's not a top pairing guy! He might be someday but he isn't right now. ASP looks like a top 4 guy. After that there are a lot of big question marks.

Literally anyone who was traded for a 2nd or later (or equivalent). Show the team you actually care and believe they can make the post season. We already saw the comments by Larkin. It’s demoralizing

I get that but none of those guys would have made us make the playoffs. Our top guys went invisible except Cat and Kasper.

Only if trading the pick for someone or moving up aren’t a possibility. Like I said it depends on what you can get . I’m not moving the pick for a rackell whos 32 I believe already. We can’t force a team to trade us a Romanov,Lafraniere,k’miller if they don’t want

I’m not sold on this draft so I wouldn’t be against getting extra picks if those scenarios I prefer aren’t a possibility. Like you said if only things were that simple everyone would be doing it. I think moving up with a bruins or pens who have no prospects in the pipeline to get a Martin,o’brien Etc.. if it’s someone we really like and still there is the best bet but again we’ll have to just see what happens, easier said than done

youve no idea of what a force edvinsson is at preventing opponant offense . they dont make players that huge whom skate that gracefully . it might not look amazing but because of his reach n skates he is shutting stuff down 24/7 . then he can also bring the puck up ice when finds the openings . he is absolutely already a top pairing dman , he just isnt a high level offensive force . by 2026/27 seider n edvinsson will be a top 3 pairing in nhl , and maybe thee top pairing . though i admit the left side dont impress me much beyond aljo besides boom whom has a chance if he improves mentally n skating , i think he improves mentally its just a learning process . and he has athleticism / ruggedness / compete / size , hes a prospect i would not trade . and because im not ecstatic bout d a jack smith would be a big target at 13 if there

We should just trade up and dump future assets to target someone or trade down and get more value picks. Staying at 13 seems like a bad idea. Or package that pick for a top 4 D that's relatively young with term like Rasmus Andersson

I can say that adding depth to the team in 23/24 at the deadline would have gottten us a an extra point and we would have made the playoffs.

Edvinsson 100% is a top pairing guy right now. If he got PP time he'd put up more points, but he put up the most even strength goals amongst all d-men 21 or younger when the season started. His advanced Fenwick rel stats are top 10 in the league.

If we can add Gavrikov this summer we will be in the conversation for the best defense in the league.

Not sure why everyone is so hell bent on trading the pick just to 'trade'. It only makes sense to trade if you can get a top NHL player who is still young (26 or under).

The draft falls off significantly past the 14th or 15th slot. Yzerman has a better chance at picking someone with top 6 (or top 4 dman) upside with the 13th.
Only trade the 1st rounder in a package if you can bring in young top end talent that fits the timeline. Like a Protus or a Knies -type (age, skill, role). Maybe Yzerman can find a deal out in the left field like he did with Mikhail Sergachev.

If not, sorry Larkin. Go cry more. The long term health of the club takes priority over your 'feelings'.
