I'm only listing guys Pronman, Wheeler and Bob have available at 13 and beyond. There may be someone who ends up dropping (Eklund) but we can't really predict that so let's stick with players who are likely to be available.

I know I’m in the minority but I’d say Carbonneau. He’s a sniper who can agitate and play with an edge. Good skill. Think he would fit in well with our future top 9.

If not him, then Bear, Aitcheson, or Lakovic.

Not interested in any of these other guys at 13.

Does "Other" include the scenario of packaging the pick for some actual NHL talent?

If yes, then Other Other Other Other Other Other Other Other Other Other Other Other.
No, just pick a player you would draft who is draft eligible and is likely to still be available at 13. I just want to get a sense of how this forum is feeling about the options available, even if most of us don't pay much attention to this stuff.

Fair enough.

In that case, I'm not interested in any of the options available.

I'm with @jkutswings.

I don't know anything about any of these guys. I do know it's a few years before they'd hit NHL ice and I want some help with 5 on 5 scoring and the PK and defending against the rush now.

Whoever is on the board between Bear and Aitcheson. Supposedly the scouting world is not very concerned about Bear's injury (according to Bob McKenzie), so it'll be purely scouts making the call, not doctors.

If McQueen is still there, I hope they stay far away. If he falls to 13, let him keep falling.

If Bear gets the green light medically I would probably have him as the highest guy here.

Still a decent sized asterisk for me though.

Just fyi - I respect the OP's logic on why Eklund isn't an option, but he's been available in I'd say the majority of the mocks I've seen since the lottery. Very similar placement overall to Aitcheson.

I agree with this. Call Buffalo up and get a top 4 d-man in Bowen Byram. Send a package for him. From the sense I’ve gotten, this draft isn’t that great. We need an elite offensive winger or top 4 D.

So...you wouldn't pick a player at 13 and would forfeit the pick? Wow, this forum is really something else.
That's not at all what I mean and you know it.

There are zero players in this draft that will realistically be available at 13 that I think help the Wings more than trading that pick as part of a package to land real NHL talent.

Anybody at 13 is at least 3-4 years from playing regular NHL minutes, let alone being a significant help to the roster.

13 is the highest that the main scouting services have him at but I think his stock may be rising.

Yeah he's going top 10 now, possibly higher. No way he falls to #13.

For the record, I think he's worthy of a top 10 pick this year but also think things are getting a bit out of control..

- between lakovic n carbo , still scouting
- and i would never trade away a 1st rd pic when yzermans making the call , never
- no undersized one dimensional shooting wingers = i want a team built for playoffs

I am in minority but my pick is Lakovic. I don't believe Yzerman will get him, but his sealing is highest among all in the list
