Just out of curiosity, who would you have liked the team to draft in 2022 if they never went after DeBrincat?

The options are the guys ranked from 7th OA to 24th OA on Bob McKenzie`s list who were still available when it would have been time for the Sens to pick. No one from his Top-6 was still available.

Joakim Kemell
Jonathan Lakkerimaki
Matt Savoie
Marco Kasper
Kevin Korchinski
Pavel Mintyukov
Conor Geekie
Danila Yurov
Frank Nazar
Brad Lambert
Jimmy Snuggerud
Jiří Kulich
Ivan Miroshnichenko
Isaac Howard
Liam Öhgren
Noah Östlund
Owen Pickering
Denton Mateychuk

Kasper, Savoie, and Mintyukov. With hindsight, Kulich.

I remember at the time I thought Savoie might be the best option there, and that was a big reason why I didn't mind trading the pick. With hindsight, Kaspar.

IIRC I was high on Lekkerimaki and Kemell but also wanted Brad Lambert.

This is a bit with hindsight. I'd like to see what our lineup would look like if we made a smarter choice in 20201 and if Dorion didn't sell the farm for ADB and JC

I like Ullmark and Jensen but imagine adding Coronato, Kasper and Sandin-Pellika to our future outlook!

I liked the upside of Lekkerimaki at the time.

Kasper was probably who we were picking though. Checks off almost every box for our scouts and I think the 67s taking him in the import draft was telling as well.

Mateychuk looks pretty good in Columbus. Not really a need though.

I like Kasper’s game and we could use the help on forward so I will go with him. He fits our style too.

(All of my answers on these polls are hindsight only, I don’t follow prospects enough to have real opinions)

I didn’t love the options but Kasper was the best of a meh lot in my opinion at the time. I definitely wanted to steer clear of Mintyukov.

Votes say Kasper but chances are that Kulich ends up as the best player?

Coronato or silligner
Kaseper or Kulich
Benson or Perreault

Damn, it'd be nice to add 3 among these players. We would have been really set at forward too, only question mark would remain in goal but Merilainen looks very solid.

I don't know about that, his PIMs/GP don't scream Elite for the Sens scouting staff.

Yeah I wanted to see what people thought we could use the most right now using hindsight.

In hindsight I’d imagine you’d have to consider all three years combined too so you end up getting something different each year.

Although tbh the one that sucks the most is 2021, because Guenther would be perfect for our top line if we’d only finished one spot lower. Ah well.

Please don't talk about Guenther

Based on votes and comments, this is what I see (I bolded my choices) :

Coronato or Sillinger
Kaseper or Kulich
Benson or Perreault

Look how enticing this forward group would be :

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Batherson
Kulich - Norris - Giroux
Greig - Pinto - Coronato

or

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Kulich - Stutzle - Coronato
Greig - Pinto - Giroux

With Perreault replacing Giroux in a year or two.

Our scouts would hate these picks haha.

I think one of them would have inevitably ended up being traded because this is too young but for sure our forward group would be a lot more promising.

We need to hit on some late picks to make up some ground at this point.

Hutson is the obvious best player available with our pick using hindsight, he's looking like one of the best offensive D in the league already, regardless his warts.

Kasper is the realistic best guy using hindsight
