Who Would Make USA's Roster If There Was Olympics This Year?

I'm just replying buddy, no intent to "hijack" anything. How's discussing the limitations of who would make TEAM USA not a subject of this thread?
Lol, McAvoy and especially Fox understand how to defensively play their positions and both handle the puck in their own end extremely
well.

There categorically isn't much difference between these D Corps.

K'Andre Miller - Fox
Slavin - McAvoy
Werenski - Jones

Toews - Makar
Chabot- AP
Morrissey - Ekblad

Also the advantage in net for the US swings the advantage defensively to the US.

He's 1v1 cerebral, incredible. Zone wise, he's good, but not elite like Lidstrom/Nieds were. Makes me think of Markov a lot.
Lol, the difference between Fox and Markov is wayyyyyyyyyy bigger
than Fox and Nieds...lol.

I was looking to see the best configuration of the US units, I think that's a good one.

I don't think you know Markov very well if you say that. I'm talking about prime Markov who was getting 4-6 in the Norris voting, because well Lidstrom, Nieds etc. were ahead.

I'm from Boston, I can go back to literally mid 1960's with hockey.
I mean the days the Habs had a d Corp of 18, 2 & 3. That was a mini
B3 before the 70's B3, so I know the NHL going way back.

You are selling Fox incredibly short. He will be one of the top 5
dmen the next 8 years and be the best at least 1 more time.

We have a similar hockey experience, we just don't share the same analysis - that's fine I respect your opinion and maybe I'm wrong.

That's pretty solid from top to bottom. Throwing in how tough they always played us (Canada) and whenever the NHL gets it thumb out of their butt and throw a tournament together I think it would make some fine hockey. Personally I think Canada's forwards are harder to handle and there is less of an answer for them, but no doubt the Americans are a force to be taken seriously.

The wings were always the American strength and the centers were weak. In 2023, the centers looks stronger than the wingers.

Definitely! One of the strongest pools of American talent in sometime, the 2016-2019 draft classes have produced some amazing talent they've got a great group of 25 and under.

Matthews
Tkachuk
Thompson
McAvoy
Fox
Debrincat
Keller

Robertson
Norris

Q Hughes
B Tkachuk
Miller

L Hughes
Zegras
Boldy
Caufield

Sanderson

Beniers

Yup. And, during those same years, Canada was bleeping the bed with one crappy draft after another.

P.Kane should not be on this team, with the season he had.

B.Tkachuk getting seriously underated, the guy had 80+ points at Sens while being a physical player.

B.Tkachuk - Hughes - M.Tkachuk
Robertson - Thompson - Tuch
Connor - Matthews - Keller
Miller - Eichel - Larkin

Q.Hughes - McAvoy
Werernski - Fox
Slavin - Pesce

Hellebucyk
Oettinger

Imagine how much of a pain the rear and infuriating it would be to play against a line of Jack Hughes and the Tkachuk brothers. LOL.

This is actually a really good team and close to what I would pick.

I would have Pavelski over Miller. Dude is a warrior and every team wants and needs someone like him.

Not truly sold on Thompson yet for this team but wouldn't be upset or shocked if he made it.

Kane would be here. Down season or not, the dude is the greatest American all time and would have a big role here.

Good group overall.

Mine would be

M. Tkachuk - Matthews - Robertson
Connor - Hughes - Keller
B. Tkachuk - Eichel - Kane
Tuch - Larkin - Pavelski
Thompson/Zegras

Werenski - Fox
Slavin - Mcavoy
Hughes - Carlson (if not healthy then Pesce)

Oettinger
Hellboy
Swayman/Demko

Czech 4C - David Kampf
USA 4C - Jack Eichel

Czech 6D - Radim Simek
US 6D - Brett Pesce

Jesus
Czech 4C - David Kampf
Sweden 4C - Jacob de la Rose

Czech 6D - Radim Simek
Sweden 6D - Anton Lindholm

We are even worse lol. Our federation dont have money to bring over our stars.

M.Tkachuk-J.Hughes-J.Robertson
B.Tkachuk-A.Matthews-T.Thompson
D.Larkin-J.Eichel-K.Connor
J.Pavelski-M.Beniers-A.Tuch
*M.Boldy, J. Miller

J.Slavin-C.McAvoy
K.Miller-A.Fox
Z.Werenski-B.Pesce
*S.Jones, Q.Hughes

Oettinger
Hellebuyck

I don’t see any reason to bring smaller, one-dimensional guys like Kane, Gaudreau, Caufield etc. Plenty of options this time around.
