I know people want to declare a winner on the day of the trade. This one will take some time who did better between Carolina and Colorado

If Rantanen re-signs and is still awesome with the Canes they won.

If Rantanen doesn't re-sign but win the cup they atill won.

Avs might flip Necas next year and get something else completely.

Canes win

I know Nichushkin will be back and they probably make another deal but man Colorado's lineup on paper looked weaker than weak today.........

I thought the Canes won. But after watching 2 periods of the Canes game right now Mikko looks like a lost puppy looking for his Mac daddy.

Good to see that Mikko still trips all the time on that invisible cable on the ice and spends a % of his shift on his a$$.

So I say Avs.

I do wish him the best though, I really do miss him. Can't wait for him to sign with the Avs in the off season.

Chicago lost a bit because they got horrible value.

Colorado lost a lot because they gave up the guy who’s 4th in league scoring over the last 5 years, because of like a million and a half per. Necas is a good player, but he’s definitely not Rantanen, and only signed an extra year.

Carolina remains to be seen. If they win the cup or extend Rantanen, they win in a landslide. If they lose, and he walks, I’d argue it becomes a lose, lose, lose trade

One of the worst trades I've ever seen.

Colorado had the most dangerous core in the league with Mack, Rantanen and Makar...retool around it, and you contend every year and possibly win many more cups. Rantanen is great in regular season but also playoffs.

Did he want 2 or 3M AAV more then you wanted to give him? What else are you going to do with that extra 3M a year, sign a random 7th defenseman or 13th forward?

I think it was a stupid move.

I will say, I was impressed by Necas's start this year, so who knows, maybe playing in Colorado he has another level he can hit, and maybe long-term this turns out ~ok. But, as of now, this seems completely stupid and unecessary for Colorado.

Carolina are definitely the winners. I suppose we'll see in a few months though - if Rantanen re-signs in Carolina they win. Who knows, maybe he goes UFA and ends up back in Colorado?

Avalanche save a couple million, got Necas for another two seasons, plus depth in Drury.

Hurricanes get the best player in the deal, and if they win the Cup they won this trade.

However, if they get ousted before at least the Conference Final and Rantanen doesn't re-sign, that arguably lost.

Until then, I'm going Avs.
Wrong.. He's a UFA after next season

This trade looks great on the stat sheet for Colorado tonight, but I've always been quite dismissive of Carolina's offensive depth and they've obviously done a great job of addressing that in this trade.

Avalanche AINEC. They could bump him as 2nd line wing after Nuke comes back and he would still be 90+ point player elevating that line to stratosphere. He and MacKinnon are very simmilar players, they both thriving with the puck on their stick so their style could clash, because both are playdrivers, Necas is not obviously that good....yet.

Avs win because if they weren’t resigning him then getting Necas Drury and picks is a pretty good haul for a UFA. Especially one who will want A BAG.

Carolina wins if they can keep Rantanen but Taylor y’all is a throw in.

Chicago loses big time.
