Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy?

My dark horses: Skinner for Edmonton and Bennett for Florida

I think it would be cool to see RNH win but I’m sure the media won’t let that happen

More likely Nuge won't let that happen. He likely
just moved into the conversation with his performance vs Dallas but is a decent bit behind McDavid/Drai and Bouchard for Edmonton. He needs to clearly outperform the above three in the finals which is unlikely

It'll be impossible for RNH to pass McDavid just because they're on the same line, on the same PP unit, and are now both killing penalties. McDavid is just going to be a part of everything Nuge does.

I think Drai and Bob have been the MVP of their teams up till now
I think Draisaitl was earlier on, but McDavid was better in the Dallas series.

I think right now for Edmonton you'd go McDavid and for Florida you'd go Bobrovsky unless a Panther's fan has someone different for their team.

The final round likely determines who wins it once again. If Florida wins and Bob can stand on his head than he takes it. If the Oilers win and McDavid puts up ~10 points it'll be his again. Outside chance to Barkov if the Panthers win it and he limits McDavid to just a few points.

I don't think we'll see another player winning it in a losing effort. IIRC McDavid already had 31 points before entering the finals last year. He was lapping the field in scoring.

Since McDavid has started to get minutes on the PK and has stepped up defensively 5-on-5 as well, how has his defensive play compared to Barkov in these playoffs? I'm not versed in the advanced stats so I can't translate the numbers.

How about Draisaitl?

He was injured in the regular season and then conserved himself for the playoffs. In these playoffs he's pacing at 133 points in 82 games. In the regular season he paced for 122 points. REALLY rare for a player to have better playoffs PPG versus regular season.
He has in 22g at Conferance finals and SC final level 13 goals and 25 assists 38 points
so far, over 141p pace-

by the way, does anyone know where you can get stats for what players have had
in 1st round through career? and CF and F career records and stats?

if he scores 2-3 OT goals and one of them is Cup winner, maybe.

I don't see a scenario where McDavid is shut down again by Barkov and Edmonton wins. So for Edmonton, it would need to be McDavid.

Florida, it will depend on the SCF. I'm going to say Bobrovski gets three shutouts and earns CS honors.

If Edmonton wins and Skinner is arguably their best player in the Final, he's winning it. The media traditionally loves a great goaltending narrative, and Skinner standing on his head with 3 shutouts and counting after being left for dead in round 1 is already one of the most unlikely comebacks in Stanley Cup history. It would still take him something like stealing a couple games and posting another shutout late in the series, but he has a non-trivial chance. You can argue all day about who deserves the Smythe, but at the end of the day it's the media's choice and they are in the business of selling the story. Hard to beat Skinner's if it plays out to completion.

If he wins CS, do you think they still move on from him and look elsewhere?

He's definitely gone if he pulls a Kings type performance in goal. If he's adequate like last year, I am 60% sure they move on.

Probably moot as him winning CS is highly unlikely.

If they win the Cup with him playing at least decently I think it's an easy decision for them to bring him back. Should they in that scenario? I have no idea, but I think in their minds it would be an easy call. They were comfortable going into the playoffs with him in the first place, afterall.

If he is subpar and they lose, that's probably it for him.

There is almost no way that McDavid isn't winning the Conn Smythe if the Oilers win the SC and Skinner really isn't in contention IMO.
