The next 5-10 games mean a lot for McDavid. He has to show up peak level and I'm confident he will.
If Edmonton manages to bring The Cup back to Canada there's NO way that the Canadian born Captain doesn't get the CS (perhaps if he's in a car accident this weekend & spends the Finals in the hospital in traction...other than that though...)
However, Bettman is going to have some fun with it...
"Congrats on you & your team winning the Stanley Cup Conner. You have also been awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. Now last year apparently you were so frightened by it that you didn't come out to accept it. So this year...we left the trophy in it's case so you don't have to look at it, but we did want to acknowledge your achievement...congratulations..."

McDavid, Drai, Bennett, and Barkov all in the mix. Any one of them can take it with a heroic SCF performance. Actually Bob with an outside chance but that would require complete dominance on his part, which I don't see happening this year.
It feels like he has a LOT left in the tank. Draisailt too.
Both have been really really good, but both have also produced at a higher clip in playoffs previously. I could see them both go all out and produce at a crazy rate for a few games.
Whose the smythe favorite? I think it's 50/50, but McDavid already winning last year might make the bar higher for him to win again. I still think McDavid goes supernova and wins smythe in the end.

McDavid. I believe he's going to play the best hockey of his career in this series. Draisaitl may outproduce him though, so there's also that possibility.
Exactly, McDavid has 9 more points than Barkov in one less game and is a +10 to Barkov's +4, he is absolutely the frontrunner and frankly I think the Oilers are going to win the SC so there is that.
And McDavid has been great on the PK and is more responsible defensively. He's playing a total game right now...

That is true, not in points, but overall hes better then ever this playoffs, like
he slept through the regular season, going 70procent
He was injured in the regular season and then conserved himself for the playoffs. In these playoffs he's pacing at 133 points in 82 games. In the regular season he paced for 122 points. REALLY rare for a player to have better playoffs PPG versus regular season.
Heck he's in Gretzky territory here. A smaller gap between him and Wayne vs Gilmour...
Drai has 85 assists in 90 games, how likely does he get 15 more in his next 35 games?

Actually Leon has 85 assists in 90 playoff games. He could very well be 3rd on that list which is also insane.

If the Oilers win, or even if they don't win, my guess is that the last thing McDavid would care about is getting his hands on the Conn Smythe. I have no doubt he would trade all of his hardware to hoist the cup.
