Who will win gold?

Of course you have. But we don't have to agree with you. It's not like Sweden has neve won before (or Russia, the US), and especially, the other countries have good players and rosters too, so of course, one of these nations can win it again.

Well, to me, Sweden is number one in Europe.

We are favourite ahead of Sweden, because this is a new tournament with new players. In Sochi, we were the favourites not becuase of the win in Vancouver, but because of the roster and the players. The same goes here. We have again probably the best roster, maybe one of the best since 2005, NHL ice, and home soil.

And if you Canadians fail in WJC like the last 5 years are we other people allowed to make fun of you like you Canadians did in this thread against other posters?

Well, this group of 1995 born players is the best since the 1985 group (I say better)but it remains to be seen how many will be at the tournament come December and how many will be making a living in the NHL... worst case scenario is 8 players, but I still like our chances, Canada beats Czech Rep to advance to the final, and from the other group, the U.S. takes out Sweden to make it an all N. American final Canada wins in OT 4-3 to take gold. That's my prediction.

Of course you are allowed, it's done all the time around here.

True.

I bumped it because I wanted everyone to know that Canada is the best hockey nation in the world and it proved many myths incorrect like how Canada get win outside of NA or can't win on NA ice. This is one of the best Ice Hockey Olympic performances of all time IMO, total domination and Canada will win the next Olympics you can quote me on it. I wouldn't be mad if Canada won gold.

You can go ahead and post the fail predictions of Canada winning gold from WJC prediction threads but I am confident in Canada every year, they got history of golds to back it up. Canada is doing very well on the men's level and we'll get on a roll at the World Juniors then I will be satisfied and want to see more respect toward Canada because I don't think they get enough.

I don't know if it is serious discussion or you guys here just show some national pride :)) Anyway Iwould say you have enough respect and no one doubt your dominance and quality of TC from 2010 and later. However if any canadian fan think that TC has been dominating since 2002 - that is very far from reallity. Of course according to results - you can count that period. But everybody knows that there were 3 or 4 teams which could win any tourney and any match and roster quality was pretty much equal.

I would consider Canada as favourite in any match in OG now. But in 90s and 2000s I consider Canada as regular oponent with no special preference, actually i was pretty confident when czech team faced TC.... Of course as an ordinary fan from central Europe I miss better TC or results in WHC:)

2002 was a big win for Canada, 2006 was terrible, 2010 was a gold, 2014 was a total domination. The last 4 Olympics weren't all domination but other than '06 I think everyone kind of knew that Canada was going to win. The 2010 and 2014 rosters were favoured for Canada by quite a bit.

In regards to 2002 you must be very optimistic nation, otherwise I agree with all you said....

No one can just know that Canada is going to win. Canada always goes in with the best roster, but we have no idea how things will go over a single elimination tournament. Replay the 2002, 2010 and 2014 tournaments and there are good odds that Canada would lose in any of them. Replay 2006 and Canada could win. That's the nature of hockey.

Comparing us to the USA during '02 was in favour of Canada.

Lemieux (old but still good), Sakic, Yzerman, MacInnis, Pronger, Niedermayer, Brodeur to guys like Gagne, Peca, Nolan. The roster had everything, it had many HHOF and superstars of the generation. USA was good with Weight, Tkachuk, Chelios, Roenick, Modano, Leetch, Hull but they had old guys like Housley and Suter. Some guys who wouldn't make the Canadian roster like Miller, Poti, Guerin, Dunham, Deadmarsh, Young, Richter, Amonte, York, Barrasso, LeClair.

I was being ridiculous but I think betting for Canada is your best bet.

Cocky Canadians...:help::shakehead:

Maybe should we post Canadians predictions of WJC the latest years? Canada who think they are faves but missed medals and gold medals?

At least when we don't win the WJC, we don't try and discredit it as a pointless tournament played by teenagers. And then act like it's the greatest tournament in sports when we do. Unlike a specific other nation.....

I also love how we get mocked for missing medals in the last 2 years. It's the only time it's ever happened. It's happens to the other hockey nations on a common basis but only once for us and that was only a year ago. Yet all the Canada haters are acting like the 2 year medal drought (Yes, by Canadian standards, that is a drought) has only happened to us.

Not in 2006.

Grasping at straws much?
