So, first off, hello! I'm new! :)

Anyways, Roughly a month left till' the Olympics, and I seriously can't wait. Every roster I've seen so far looks pretty good and it will be really fun to watch the teams play. Which teams will go to the gold medal game?

My bet is Sweden vs Canada in the finals, and Canada will win gold. Well, we shall see!

Going by roster the Top 3 favourites are by far Canada, Russia and Sweden in no particular order. However, in tournaments like these anything can happen. Finland's chance rest sorely on outstanding goaltending. If that fails, we are not going very far. If goaltending is as awesome as I expect from Rask, I can see Finland making the finals.

My official bet: Russia will win gold despite it's ridiculous pressure and after questionable officiating in the gold medal game against Canada.

A rematch of 2006 with the opposite final score.
The only difference being we'll let in less goals in
the tournament than in Torino :)

Maybe the RUS could make Sotchi a SWE town
just for the final, as SWE can't beat FIN in a
final if it's played on their home territory...

I dont want to be a dick..but it feels good...something in the air...Sweden will take it. Great roster choice by MÃ¥rts.

Russia is very top heavy. Not that impressed with the depth of this team. And the Swedish defense is ok and Lundqvist has been anything but world class this year. It comes down to Finland, Canada and the U.S.

I reckon we would win if we met you in the finals.

I did and it looks incredible. Definitely my pick for gold big ice or not.

So Canada has medalled only once on international sized ice (In the 2002 Olympics held in USA) also being the only best on best tournament without Finland in the medals?

That 2002 roster does look good also though, definitely better than the 2006 one (where Canada was left out of the top 4).

Canada. When they do, I'm going to bump all the "Canada is declining" threads.

Isn't that kinda stupid though?

Even if Canada was declining (which I don't see) they are still the strongest contenders.. Decline is relative to your peak.

Bumping threads where it has been discussed for and against if Canada wins.. stupid.

I'm shocked, shocked - does anyone have smelling salts??? Stop the presses, my god - Finland actually has a weak team on paper! This can't be good!

Honestly all the other rosters look underwhelming besides Canadas. Obviously big ice is different but there's 4-5 guys on every non-Canadian roster that are incapable of playing a big role in the NHL/KHL let alone best on best. Game is played on ice though not on lineups.
