breaking news- somebody has to play in their absenceEvans? I don't know if anyone could short-term internally. After this season? If we get a legit 2C, Evans can take the reigns and learn. It will take a while before he can fill his shoes on the defensive end.
Armia? I don't care. He doesn't give a consistent effort, and we shouldn't be fooled by a contract year. Replace him with whomever. If we don't get the return we want, he's good as an own rental to take advantage of his contract year effort. To be fair, he's always been good in the playoffs, but he hardly ever helps his team to get there in the first place.
rookies will be demidov, beck and kappy next season at forward. Dvorak, evans and army will be goneDavidson and Roy maybe for the rest of the season.
Kappanen and Newhook next year.
Breaking news - just get warm bodies from the team you will be trading with?breaking news- somebody has to play in their absence
Breaking news - crushing players spirits, by inserting some “warm body”, while focused on a playoff hunt isn’t the recipe for taking next step in development / progression of 53% of the rosterBreaking news - just get warm bodies from the team you will be trading with?
It’s not really rocket science lmao
Management will not risk losing players to free agency for nothing, that is piss poor asset management fans should criticise and require a valid explanation for. This would hurt the team more than trading away Evans/Armia/Dvorak for a pick and "warm body." Players are competitors, but should also understand the business side of hockey.Breaking news - crushing players spirits, by inserting some “warm body”, while focused on a playoff hunt isn’t the recipe for taking next step in development / progression of 53% of the roster
Maybe we should build these poor wee fellas a safe space too... this... is still hockey, right??Breaking news - crushing players spirits, by inserting some “warm body”, while focused on a playoff hunt isn’t the recipe for taking next step in development / progression of 53% of the roster
The only crushing experience this season was the 3-8-1 run kicked off by the 5 goal third period we gave up to the Leafs ending with the Four Nations Break.Breaking news - crushing players spirits, by inserting some “warm body”, while focused on a playoff hunt isn’t the recipe for taking next step in development / progression of 53% of the roster
The problem I have with Roy is where he's going to play. Looking at the top 6 wingers for next year, we have Cole, Slaf, Laine and Ivan. Bottom 6 we have Andy, Gally and Heine as locks. I don't see him as a bottom 6 type of player but I'm thinking if he wants to stay with us, his skating and effort level needs to take a massive jump. I guess it's up to him if he's willing to do that or not.I’d try Heineman-ABB-Roy 4th line. ABB / Heineman were good together in preseason and he has NHL XP.
As for Roy I just don’t think we have another option. Xhekaj or Davidson aren’t ready for NHL speed of play. Maybe RHP.
Roy has shown he can process NHL speed.

Yeah I think this is the approach. Especially with the talk they're looking to package Evans/Armia, they're looking for quality. not quantity (we have plenty of quantity, especially on the draft side). We'll cross that bridge when we get to the river, that said we have stuff to move at the TDL, but we are not doing a fire sale. Pretty sure we will focus on moving the guys that will fetch a decent return and not bother with the rest and let them walk at the end of the season.
