Every year there seems to be a few players who are relatively quiet in the hockey media but they have a real coming out party during this tournament. Who will it be this year?

My nomination is Conor Timmins. Most wouldn't have even seen him as a possibility to make the team a few months back. He has played his way onto this team and will show his talent in a few weeks.

Andrei Svechnikov
The rabid hockey fans have known about Svechnikov for at least a year. This may be a coming out party to the rest of the world, but I think the thread is about the less heralded prospects, if I'm not mistaken.

I think Ryan's Poehling will put his name on the map with this event.

If Liljegren continues playing like he has in the AHL, the hockey community will get a nice re-introduction. Especially if he gets minutes with Dahlin.

Zadina should be in a good position to have a strong tournament and maybe put his name as a legit contender for number 2 (but I think that is unlikely). I could see him cementing himself as the #3 in most peoples eyes though.

Jakub Skarek is in a good position to get 1st round hype. As always, it feels like some goalie is the big story if they play for the winning team. Last year that was Parsons. Carter Hart if not already known is in a great spot to get a lot of hype (or slack). Same is true for whoever starts for the US (most likely one of Woll or Oettinger).

On a homer-related level, I believe Liljegren will really show that last year was mostly the fall out of playing with mono, and prove that he was a legit top 10 talent in the draft and may put himself in the discussion with Heiskanen again.

I can only imagine the forums if liljegren has a half way decent tournament.

Any guys in that 2-10 spot playing... could really get a nice boost from a solid showing... I think svechnikov is a solid choice.

Homer vote : Sam Steel- got cut last season, lit up the WHL after wards... getting a chance to show why he should have been there last season, he had the highest points per game @ the summer show case(5 points in 2 games vs usa/sweeden).

I'll do each team:

Belarus - Martynov
Canada - Steenbergen
Czech. Rep. - Safin
Denmark - Setkov
Finland - Luukkonen
Russia - Lipanov
Slovakia - Ruzicka
Sweden - Westerlund
Switzerland - Geisser
USA - Anderson

I think Kale Clague still doesn't get enough attention, he'll be a standout for Canada IMO. Of the forwards I always really liked Robert Thomas, I think he could be their top center.

I imagine we'll also see some pretty good things from Chytil and Kuokkanen who should be top centers for their respective teams but don't get a lot of press.

Janne Kuokkanen played okay in the NHL but no-one knows who he is, he could shine in the U20.

Estonia but dahlin if you make this his coming out party instead of two years ago or the Russian forward or Pettersson . it would be dahlin but he’s already played on the adult national team and was the youngest Swede ever to make the world junior team so yeah you can’t call it his coming out party
