I think Chytil will be seen as being on the top level of prospects after this tournament with Petterssen and Kaprizov. He’s the next Pastrnak.

So I've mentioned Pastrnak and made a comparison between the two before

Not going to post in the chytil thread cause it's bad juju

chytil first 9 games
25 shots, 11 points, 5 goals, 5 games with a point
best offensive producer on the team

pastrnak first 9 games
27 shots, 10 points, 3 goals, 5 games with a point
best offensive producer on the team

wanted to update this after the back to back games with chytil being pointless.. turns out pastrnak also went pointless in his next 2

don't take too much into this as pastrnak got to 11 games on Nov 8
also another added caution is that pastrnak was weak and lacked strength while producing these #s. He improved a ton in this department after his 2nd season in the NHL, I don't think chytil has strength issues

The #s are scary similar. But size and build wise, they are nothing at all a-like. Both have a good shot and speed but I wouldn't say Pastrnak is the best comparison play-style either. I have a few names in mind but I want to watch the WJC to make that comment.

Pastrnak has a huge ceiling and is the best winger taken from 2014 and arguably the best player. Tough to measure up to that. What Chytil has going for him is age/rawness. This guy was a few days from being drafted in 2016 and 2 years younger than Matthews instead of a year.

Another thing that will be looked at as a huge positive (but I'm a bit wary) is his elite two-way play (why he was touted). The last thing I want AV to do is to pigeonhole him as a two-way specialist and develop him solely in that area.

Brannstrom aint get no respek. All I hear about is Dahlin (warranted) and Liljegren (somewhat warranted)

I would have to imagine that is due to Tim being a Toronto prospect and their shear number of fans, while Vegas fans don't have much of an online presence.

What Brannstrom showed while he was over in the States at the Vegas camp was extremely impressive. The low scoring nature in the SHL leads to some underwhelming production, but this kid has everything but size. I dont think he can get a slot on that 1PP due to the handedness of Dahlin, but he is going to impress at even strength with his elite skating, IQ, and passing / breakout ability. He also is able to play more physical than his size implies.

I could see him anchoring that second pair and giving Sweden the ability to roll the top two pairs ~23-25 minutes each.

Seconded. Brannstrom is awesome. He will end up being the 2nd best defender outside of Heiskanen from this draft.

my sort of bias guesses would be:
Klim Kostin
Robert Thomas
Mittelstadt
Fox
Heponiemi
E. Pettersson
Kyrou
Lias Andersson
Jusso Valimaki
miro Heiskanen
Dante Fabbro
Zadina
Dahlin(i guess?)
Oettinger
The belarus goalie forgot his name lol

Fox and Poehling should surprise some people with team USA. Zadina should get some attention too.

Amazing how you don't even consider him #1.

I don't see any way that he overtakes Dahlin. Regardless of anything anyone else does, I feel Dahlin is as much of a lock for #1 as anyone in recent years. The fact that he plays D and Svechnikov plays wing only cements it.

Filip Zadina should explode imo. I'd say he should be top-4 most lists come February.

Jonas Rjondberg should have a coming out of sorts and I'm excited to see Berdin in action.

homer vote but Chytil should gain more believers after this, i doubt many have seen him play but he’s a monster

I know he is somewhat talked about prospect and all, but still isn't quite getting the attention he deserves. So I'll say Heiskanen. I think this year's tourney will cement him as the elite level prospect in the eyes of the NA media and casual fans. People who really don't follow him that actively since he plays in Liiga.
