Who Will be Tanking for Gavin McKenna in 2025 2026

Dubas has actually done a good job of that. Pens have the most picks in the first three rounds over the next three years than any team.
Not saying that 3rd rounders are worthless but your team still need a lot more picks in the higher rounds though as 8 of those 18 picks the pens have are just 3rd rounders. Chicago has only 15 picks in the first 3 rounds that same time period but of that they have 5 firsts and 7 second rounders compared to Pits 4 first rounders and 6 second rounders id take the extra first and second over those extra 3rds.

Still a lot of time but Pit is gonna need to use those 3rds to try and move up on draft day or at worst attach one to a player to squeeze a better return in any potential future trades.

I know it's been a lot of years but it's only been twice and it's some unfortunate luck caused by his contract and profile. The Sharks were on the verge of contract hell when he joined and suffered major player declines and situations (Kane) that absolutely wrecked the team; every single risk Wilson took at the end of his tenure absolutely blew up in his face. Karlsson actually was a great addition to the Sharks and took them to the final 4 without much issue playing on one leg but that injury (and St Louis headshots, and Ref Jose) prevented them from going any further.

Then he signed a huge contract with San Jose, which wasn't movable except to one team that also had a lot of question marks, possible player declines, and looking to make a similar swing to SJ.

Personally I think he has been misused in Pittsburgh because of the presence of and their history with Kris Letang. They need to sell off Letang and Malkin and restock with better defensive talent.
Fair. He's had a lot of bad luck happen.
Pitt could just sell it all but keep Crosby to help mentor next generation. It's gonna be interesting next few years as all current rebuilding teams are improving and if Pitt/Isles/Bos/Nsh keep trying to stay afloat or rebuild. Eventually teams like Buffalo, RedWings, Ducks and even the Sharks are gonna push those old teams out of playoff spots.

Well I don’t think the point still stands., since you thought everyone thought they were top 5, which wasn’t true.
Figure of speech. Most did. Look how they finished last season then they added Stamkos, Skjei, O’Rielly. Read comments on any Instagram, Twitter or Facebook post and everyone’s saying how good they will be. Hindsight is always 20/20. Have a good night.

What about Reddit

He hasn’t been misused, he’s just not a guy you win with. Letang is a true Penguin, Karlsson isn’t & never will be.

Boston will probably retool, too much talent to be true contenders. Pitts will ride out the last years of Crosby and this means no shameless Chicago/SJ style tank. Nashville could totally do it if Trotz pulls the trigger - they have a pretty decent prospect pool and a lot of picks, and can trade their players for more picks. But if Trotz tries to go for it again, then the crown might be out of reach. Nash definitely should be rebuilding and tanking at the very least. Red Wings feel like they are cursed, make too many good moves to keep them far from the prize, but too many bad moves to keep them just out of the playoffs, but they definitely shouldn't be in the discussion next season.

SJ and Chicago are still going to be favorites but both teams will improve even more next season so some surprise team will get really aggressive and make a good run next year when they realize that getting "first place" is a legit possibility, kinda like how Boston had an incredible run over the last month. Feel like Seattle could do it. Rangers and Islanders too - these guys could def blow it up and would be front runners for the off season cup if they went that direction.

Pens best scenario route is probably what you touched on here.

Pens trade of Rakell and Karlsson in the summer for either picks or young players, their roster won’t have much beyond Crosby, and a 40 year old Malkin in his last year. They could easily be a bottom 3 team even with Crosby getting his 80-90 points.

Their plan should be to get as much as possible for any veteran worth anything, play their prospects that are ready/almost ready with Crosby/Malkin (while being bad and Crosby mentoring them).

Has anyone said Vancouver?

Not actively trying to tank but just by default?

A franchise one skater away from more injuries. (Hughes)

With a starting goalie that cant stay healthy. (Demko)

With their best forward heavily under scrutiny. (Ep40)

And their best goal scorer about to walk. (Boeser)

Who last offseason identified Desharnais as a fix. (LOL)

Canuck fans and media seem to think we're a couple pieces away from a decent team I see a team a couple pieces away from Gavin McKenna.

We even got a bit of a headstart on developing and nurturing next years drama...The Quinn Hughes question.

Will we call him at 1am one night demanding an answer?

Stay tuned.

That attitude is the entire problem. He is an absolute stud in the playoffs.
Bro, proof is in the pudding. He plays his game, not winning hockey. There’s a reason his teams never got a Final. Letang has three rings & is a core component to those wins. Karlsson is a points getter, nothing more.

He wasn’t “misused”, he’s just not a guy you win with.

If San Jose or Chicago ends up with McKenna next year, how would fans from other teams feel?
They deserve it. They are both bad teams that need a low pick. Now if the Sharks get it ,it would make it 2 in a row and if i'm correct no more 1st for the next 3 seasons allowed? Same with the Hawks? Anybody.

The NHL has a rule in place to prevent this, limiting a team's lottery wins to a maximum of two within a five-year period. This rule, implemented starting in 2022, aims to prevent teams from consistently benefiting from the lottery and to ensure a more even distribution of top draft picks.
